This cannot be your legacy – Lydia Forson takes on Akufo-Addo over ill treatment of protesters

Actress Lydia Forson has added her voice in condemning the President of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service over the handling of protesters.

Some protesters who hit the streets of Accra have been remanded by a circuit court in Accra for engaging in some forms of unlawfulness.

These protesters number 39 will be in police and prison custody until they reappear in court in October.

Ghanaians on social media have condemned the police for their action against people who were protesting against illegal mining.

In a post shared via social media, Lydia Forson could not fathom why such people would be given that kind of treatment considering they were fighting for a good cause.

She reminded the President of his charge for Ghanaians to be citizens and not spectators

“Dear @NAkufoAddo This cannot be your legacy! You spent years as a human rights activist with placards on the streets! What happened? What happened to the man from “ku me preko”? Your “Fellow Ghanaians” are following your charge to be citizens not spectators,” she said.
