Redditor Sewerbeauty dished the details, with some surprising hacks that stood the test of time.

Unlike luxury skincare products with a shocking price tag, grandma’s are a bit more down-to-Earth.

“My hidden gems/holy grails are the simple but effective products grandmas have been using for decades,” Sewerbeauty said.

“They stand the test of time and don’t break the bank.”

IF IT’S NOT BROKEN, DON’T FIX IT

Sewerbeauty pointed out that her grandma’s recommendations are easily accessible.

“Things like Nivea Creme, face tape, Dove Beauty Bars, hair-oiling, dry brushing, et cetera,” she said.

Nivea Creme is sold for $9.95 on Amazon and can be used on most parts of the body.

Face-taping is a method to slow down aging by preventing expression lines before they start.

There are a variety of tapes available and they are typically applied before going to bed.

Dove Beauty Bars are sold for $13.55 for a pack of 14 on Amazon.

Sewerbeauty said that she uses the original bar, but sometimes uses the Shea Butter and Warm Vanilla variety on her body for the scent.

Hair-oiling finds its roots in ancient medicine, such as Ayurveda, to promote longer locks.

Finally, dry brushing is practiced to promote lymphatic drainage for a leaner look.

“I trust my grandma and my own intuition more than any amount of marketing,” Sewerbeauty added.

“Not engaging with every single trend has saved me some serious bank and keeps me feeling chic and classic.”

Several other Redditors gave their thoughts on Sewerbeauty’s approach to self care.

“Yep, beauty tips that ancestors did,” one wrote.

“Threading, hair oiling, steaming, wrapping hair, [and] facials, are all affordable and luxurious.”

“I’ll add Pond’s cold cream to that, [I] finally listened to my grandma and now I use it whenever I have makeup on,” another added.

Pond’s Cream can be found at Target and is sold for $7.99.
