In an interview with GQ, Brolin shared his experience working on the movie. He discussed the vicious pit bull attack scene. Brolin revealed that he was asked to hide a toy in his pants so that the dog would follow him. However, as the dog came closer, Brolin became worried about getting bitten by him.

Even if he doesn’t eat you, he is gonna eat your crotch and that’s never a good thing.

Brolin made the above statement about the dog, Scooby’s fixation with the toy, which forced the Thanos actor to rip it out of his pants to get the pit bull away from him.

In the process, Brolin revealed that he also tore up part of his costume. He added:

They’re not concerned about their lead actor in the least, like not even for a nanosecond, just laughing, smiling and laughing.

Meanwhile, when the ordeal finally ended, the actor was surprised to see the indifference from the directors. Brolin revealed that the Coen brothers simply weren’t concerned with him and were busy laughing amongst themselves. However, the directors were likely aware Brolin wasn’t in any real danger and were simply amused by the chain of events.

The Deadpool 2 actor revealed that in his years of working with the Coen brothers, he had never received any positive feedback from them. Brolin stated the following (via PearlandDean.com):

After every scene I’ve ever done, especially in the beginning, I’ve never ever gotten, great scene, I’ve never gotten a thumbs-up. It’s literally moving on and looking up and seeing their backs walking away to the next set.

Brolin explained that later on he started asking for feedback but still received no positive comments, with the directors stating that they got what they needed for the scene and he did his job correctly.

However, Brolin noted that while this was their approach with most actors, the only exception to the rule was Woody Harrelson. While working on No Country For Old Men, Brolin recalled that Harrelson struggled to get through his lines, and when he finally stumbled through them the Coen brothers praised him.
