Inside new Scots Primark Shrek cafe – it even serves swamp juice and nachos with green slime

FANS of Dreamworks will be delighted to see the theme of Primark’s latest cafe in Scotland.

The fashion store in Glasgow‘s Braehead mall has a cafe makeover once every few months.

The last theme was Spongebob Squarepants and was a hit with shoppers.

But the new cafe is likely to be an even bigger success – with a Shrek theme.

Everything has been transformed into a homage to the beloved Scots green ogre, voiced by Mike Myers in the movies.

The Far Far Away Cafe is decorated with some of the most recognisable characters from the movie, including Princess Fiona, the three blind mice and Puss in Boots.

Meanwhile, there are signs with famous phrases from the flicks, like ‘that’ll do Donkey’ and ‘get out of my swamp’.

The eaterie is open seven days a week from 10am and serves up Shrek themed grub from an ‘onions have layers’ cheese and red onion marmalade toastie to ‘swampchos’, nachos covered in green cheese slime, guacamole and sour cream.

For dessert there’s the Far, Far Away special, which sees waffles piled with strawberry ice cream, wafer towers, fairy dust and candy floss clouds as well as a selection of decadent shakes, including ‘Not the Gumdrop Buttons’, a ginger and buterscotch milkshakre with whipped cream, gum drop sweets, gingerbread men and toffee sauce.

And to drink there’s potions, bubble tea and swamp juice. This includes Poisoned Apple juice with cherry boba.

The cafe also showcases Primark’s range of Shrek themed clothes.

There’s adorable bright, green slippers, socks, bags and mugs included in the collection.

Fans are already loving the cafe with almost 7,000 people viewing a vid uploaded on Primark Brahead’s TikTok.

One said: “This looks so fun.”

And another posted: “OK I’ll go watch Shrek again.”

The last Spongebob theme delighted customers at the shopping centre.

Although some were disappointed the cafe didn’t sell Krabby Patties.

Why is Primark the place to go to for bargains?

JUST how does Primark do it? Continue delivering on-trend items at such incredible prices? According to bosses, it’s down to four points.

  • They “sell a lot of items” – Thanks to that, they are able to make savings by buying in bulk for their 191 UK stores
  • They “do very little advertising”
  • While their clothes offer the “latest trends”, they “don’t use expensive hangers, tags or labels”.
  • And lastly, they try to be “as efficient as possible when transporting products from factories to stores”. This includes things like asking “suppliers to pack our t-shirts so they are ready to go straight on shelf”.
