Budapest deems the Western threats about Russia‘s alleged plans to attack NATO as meaningless, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated.
“What’s the point of attacking any NATO member state? NATO has its own treaty, which has a clear Article 5 stating that an attack on any member state is considered an attack on all. So, whoever attacks NATO must face the entire alliance.
Why would Russia want to confront that?” he told journalists on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Szijjártó also urged those who speak about such threats from Russia to “think logically”.
The UN General Assembly gathered on Tuesday for its 79th annual session. The high-level week, scheduled for September 24-28, will be the key event, followed by annual debates on September 30, with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov heading the Russian delegation and expected to speak on September 28.
