D’Tigress climb to 8th Position in new FIBA ranking after Olympics heroics

Nigerias DTigress are now eighth in the latest ranking released by the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) on Thursday, August 29. Rena Wakamas side moved up four places following their remarkable performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris where they made history as the first African team (male or female) to be ranked in the top 10.The African champions were in devastating form at the Olympics,  recording impressive victories against top-ranked opponents; Australia and Canada.Nigeria entered the history books as the first African team to qualify for the quarter-final at the Olympics but later bowed out to eventual gold medalists United States of America.USA retained their position at the top of the ranking with Australia in second position.
