Cold front for Thursday

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A cold front dropping south across the plains on Thursday morning will keep breezy conditions going through the day. While a few gusts through the morning may approach 30 mph for an hour or two after the front passes, most of the day will feature 10-20 mph breezes. Behind the front, the wind will be from the north, but change direction in the afternoon, coming out of the east for the second half of the day.

A few thunderstorms are expected over the far eastern plains in the afternoon. Storms will become stronger as they move east into Kansas. The upslope flow late in the day pushing against the terrain may spark a weak shower or rumble of thunder over and near the higher terrain, including the Pikes Peak Region. These will be few and far between, and weak if they do occur.

The front drops temperatures a little from the toasty highs on Wednesday – dropping the numbers closer to the seasonal averages for late August.
