Love Island couple spark more split rumours after blazing row on night out

LOVE Island couple Ronnie Vint has fuelled rumours that he has split from Harriett Blackmore after last night’s event.

The footballer, 28, stepped out with fellow co-star Jessy Potts and ex Islander Abi Moores at the premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Ronnie looked dapper in a black suit as he walked the black carpet at Cineword in Leicester Square.

They trio posed for photos but Ronnie’s girlfriend Harriett, 24, was nowhere to be seen.

Ronnie was all smiles as he attended the glitzy star-studded event, alongside a number of famous faces including lead actress Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder.

The reality star’s outing comes after he and Harriett sparked speculation they’re on the rocks after having a blazing row on a boozy night out.

Just last week, The Sun revealed they’d secretly split before patching things up on the same day.

Ronnie reassured fans they were back on by posting a week-old picture of them together.

But, now it appears their relationship’s in trouble again.

The sportsman was overheard on the phone to Harriett, 24, arguing at his launch party last night, which was attended by the likes of Joey EssexJessy PottsCiaran Davies and Nicole Samuel.

The bash, held at London’s trendy rooftop bar Jin Bo Law, marked the official launch of his new events brand, Eggi Boff.

Ronnie was audibly fuming with Harriet, who didn’t arrive until after 11:00pm with fellow islanders Matilda Draper and Uma Jammeh.

The dancer did not post from the event, nor did she feature in any of her boyfriend’s.

Ronnie, who is nicknamed Turbo Ronnie, was accused of cheating on Harriett last month – just days after leaving the villa.

We told how he’d been spotted with a stunning teacher, 21, after a night out in Milton Keynes at city hotspot Blossom Room.

Harriett appeared to ignore the claims – as he defiantly shared a snap of them together with the caption “winning in our eyes”.

She looked incredible as she shared pictures wearing a plunging black dress last night, as Ronnie commented: “Baby girl looking crazy.”

Love Island series 11 couples still together

After Harriett and Ronnie sparked rumours of a split - here we take a look at the other couples who are still together:

Mimii Ngulube and Josh Oyinsan

UK house prices 2.4% higher than last year and rising at fastest rate since 2022

UK HOUSE prices rose annually by 2.4% in August and are now increasing at the fastest rate since December 2022.

This means the typical home is around £6,000 more expensive than what it was this time last year, and stands at £265,375, new figures by Nationwide have found.

House values are on the up, according to a new study by Nationwide[/caption]

The news follows a rather subdue time for the property market, with wider economic factors such as wage stagnation and the hangover from political uncertainty hitting the market hard.

While the pace at which property prices increase is now at the quickest since December 2022, it still 3.0% below the all-time highs recorded in the summer of 2022.

On a monthly basis house prices actually fell by 0.2% in August, with around £959 wiped off the value of a home compared to July.

However, this tends to happen during the warmer months as factors such as the summer holidays tend to slow down action in the market.

Stephen Perkins, managing director at Yellow Brick Mortgages said: “Enquiry numbers were steady in August despite the expected drop off due to summer holidays, which overall has seen house prices remain firm resolute.

“Stability is very welcome after the last few years of turmoil.”

Meanwhile, Robert Gardner, Nationwide’s chief economist, said housing market activity is likely to “strengthen gradually”.

“As affordability constraints ease through a combination of modestly lower interest rates and earnings outpacing house price growth,” he explained.

Earlier this month a string of the UK’s biggest lenders cut interest rates on mortgage deals to below 4%, in a boost for cash strapped buyers.

This was in response to the Bank of England reducing the base rate from 5.25% to 5% after seven months.

When the base rate is reduced it can often be an indicator that sentiment in the housing market might improve.

This is because banks and building societies use it to set the rate of it interest it charges on products including mortgages.

Alice Haine, personal finance analyst at Bestinvest said: “Another interest rate reduction from the Bank of England sooner rather than later could catalyse the market even further.

“The BoE has stressed, however, that it remains cautious about further cuts following the 25-basis point reduction at the start of this month, as it wants to ensure any lingering cost pressures are stamped out.”

How to get the best deal on your mortgage

IF you're looking for a traditional type of mortgage, getting the best rates depends entirely on what's available at any given time.

There are several ways to land the best deal.

Usually the larger the deposit you have the lower the rate you can get.

If you’re remortgaging and your loan-to-value ratio (LTV) has changed, you’ll get access to better rates than before.

Your LTV will go down if your outstanding mortgage is lower and/or your home’s value is higher.

A change to your credit score or a better salary could also help you access better rates.

And if you’re nearing the end of a fixed deal soon it’s worth looking for new deals now.

You can lock in current deals sometimes up to six months before your current deal ends.

Leaving a fixed deal early will usually come with an early exit fee, so you want to avoid this extra cost.

But depending on the cost and how much you could save by switching versus sticking, it could be worth paying to leave the deal – but compare the costs first.

To find the best deal use a mortgage comparison tool to see what’s available.

You can also go to a mortgage broker who can compare a much larger range of deals for you.

Some will charge an extra fee but there are plenty who give advice for free and get paid only on commission from the lender.

You’ll also need to factor in fees for the mortgage, though some have no fees at all.

You can add the fee – sometimes more than £1,000 – to the cost of the mortgage, but be aware that means you’ll pay interest on it and so will cost more in the long term.

You can use a mortgage calculator to see how much you could borrow.

Remember you’ll have to pass the lender’s strict eligibility criteria too, which will include affordability checks and looking at your credit file.

You may also need to provide documents such as utility bills, proof of benefits, your last three month’s payslips, passports and bank statements.

She added: “The good news for borrowers is that mortgage rates are continuing to ease though how much effect this will have on repayments depends on what type of mortgage someone has and when their current deal expires.”

“New borrowers and those on trackers are benefitting the most from the improving mortgage landscape, but existing mortgage holders locked into expensive fixed rate deals with some time left to run won’t see any gain at all.”

What is happening to house prices?

The property market has remained fairly subdued in 2024 so far, as buyers and home-movers have faced high mortgage rates and the uncertainty of the General Election.

A brief period at the start of the year saw lenders slash mortgage rates in anticipation that the Bank of England would be making cuts to the base rate, which has stood at a 16-year high of 5.25% since August 2023.

But those hopes quickly faded and the rate cut did not materialise until far later in the year, when on August 1 it decided to reduce it by 0.25 percentage points after inflation hit its 2% target.

As winter approaches there appears to be a more positive sentiment in the market, with prices up 2.4% on an annuls basis in August.

But reports that Chancellor Rachel Reeves could raise inheritance and capital gains tax in the upcoming Autumn Budget could dampen improvements made.

Alice Haine, personal finance analyst at BestInvest added: “Rumours are rife that the Government will stage a Capital Gains Tax raid – potentially aligning CGT rates with income tax – raising fears for buy-to-let landlords and those with second homes about the implications for their property portfolio.

“A dramatic shift in CGT rates could trigger a selling frenzy with a flood of new listings on the market if homeowners rush to sell before any new legislation comes into force though of course there is also the risk that a new regime takes effect immediately.”

Mel C gobsmacked as she uncovers family’s criminal history on Who Do You Think You Are?

MEL C was left absolutely gobsmacked as she uncovered her family’s criminal history.

The former Spice Girls star wanted to know more about her ancestors as she made an appearance on ‘Who Do You Think You Are?‘.

Melanie, 50, is one of a number of stars to take part in the new series of the long-running BBC show.

Other names who will appear include Vicky McClure, Paddy McGuinness, Olly Murs, and former Towie star Gemma Collins.

But the pop singer was left absolutely stunned after the latest instalment of the programme.

As she delved into her Irish roots, she encountered a huge surprise with her four times great grandfather.

It turned out that her ancestor Thomas Keefe was charged in 1860 for embezzlement.

He climbed the ladder of society in Bristol at the time, as he became an insurance manager.

This was from humble roots as he was made an orphan, but he later fell foul of the law.

He was accused of embezzling £2 and eleven shillings, the equivalent of £200 in today’s currency.

Insurance historian James Kneal told the singer: “Insurance was big back then and companies were looking for people to sell home insurance to ordinary people, and he was a baker so he knew a lot of people, so he worked his way up to manager.”

Mel responded with intrigue as she remarked: “I’ve been finding out about my four times great grandfather.

“I think 1858 we picked him up here in Bristol and he is working in insurance but seven years before he was a baker.”

The former Jesus Christ Superstar performer was then handed an official document.

“So we’ve got the Bristol Daily Post and this is July 1860. Bristol Police Court, eek ok'”, she exclaimed.

Reading on, she added: “Ohhhh Mr Keefe charged with embezzlement. No.

“Mr Thomas Daniel Keefe, of three Clifton-place, Stapleton Road was brought up on a warrant, charged with having embezzled £2 eleven shillings.”

After she got “to the bottom” of the story, she eventually discovered that the charges against her relative had been dropped.

It emerged that he was innocent all along, but he was forced to relocate and embark on a whole new career.

He changed his surname to O’Keef and he became well known for his skills in public speaking as he carved out a new path in politics.

West Ham vs Man City preview

There’s only been two weeks of the 2024-25 campaign but Manchester City are already in rude health.

The champions have secured maximum points against Chelsea and Ipswich Town, while superstar striker Erling Haaland is clearly enjoying the benefits of a summer off having struck four times – including a hat-trick last time out.

And they’ll only get stronger with Phil Foden and Rodri expected to return to action this weekend.

The Cityzens have also had the benefit of an extra rest having not had to play Carabao Cup football this week – unlike their opponents.

Julen Lopetegui fielded a fairly strong side including Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Max Kilman when beating Bournemouth at the London Stadium.

And though several were rested, it’s hardly ideal preparations when facing a side you’ve not beaten since 2015 (P17, D3, L14).

When is West Ham vs Man City?

  • West Ham vs Man City will take place on Saturday, August 31
  • It is scheduled to kick off at 5:30pm BST
  • The encounter will take place at the London Stadium, London

What TV channel is it on can it be live streamed?

  • West Ham vs Manchester City will be broadcast LIVE on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
  • Subscription members can stream the entire action on the Sky Go app.
  • Alternatively, SunSport will have minute-by-minute coverage of the whole match.

What is the team news?

Julen Lopetegui has a full squad to choose from for Manchester City’s visit on Saturday.

The Spanish manager, 58, made several changes for their midweek encounter in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth with the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, Michail Antonio, Emerson, Guido Rodriguez and Dinos Mavropanos expected to return to the starting XI.

Oscar Bobb is Pep Guardiola’s only definitive absentee.

Otherwise the Cityzens are likely to be at full strength with Philip Foden (illness), Mateo Kovacic (calf) and Rodri expected to return to the fold.

What are the odds for West Ham vs Man City?

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

West Ham vs Man City betting tips and predictions

Awesome AWB

Few attack quite like Jeremy Doku down that left channel for Manchester City, and few tackle with the efficiency of West Ham’s new signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The 26-year-old played at left-back in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but should start at in his preferred right-back spot this weekend.

Doku has registered a whopping 20 take ons down that left wing in the opening two matches of the season, and he’s been tackled 15 times. Wan-Bissaka should therefore be busy, and should be sharp having made two tackles against Bournemouth midweek.

Erling Headland

We were successful with Kevin De Bruyne scoring from outside the penalty area against Ipswich Town at 6/1 last weekend, so we’re back with another goal method this week.

Erling Haaland is clearly red hot having scored four goals in Manchester City’s two opening matches from a total of nine efforts. 33% of those efforts have been from headers with an attempt every 19.7 minutes.

He’s scored 11 with his head since joining Manchester City (22/23 – 8, 23/24 – 4) and has four goals in four appearances against the Hammers – blanking only once.

Arsenal to win either 1-0 or 2-0 at 13/5 with talkSPORT BET – CLAIM HERE

Goals might just be at a premium on Saturday, unlikely as it may appear on paper between two attacking sides.

The two sides rank in the top five for fewest xGC (Expected Goals Conceded) while the pair have combined to allow just ten efforts on target in their opening two fixtures (Arsenal 6, Brighton 4).

The Gunners’ attacking has been clinical, but they aren’t firing on all cylinders yet having created only four big chances with an xG from open play lower than that of Nottingham Forest.

Kai Havertz to be carded at 11/2 with talkSPORT BET – CLAIM HERE

Arsenal certainly have the appetite to win.

In fact, only West Ham have committed more than Arsenal’s 33 fouls in two matches this season. Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey can account for over 36% of those and the German looks a far greater price at 11/2 – especially given he was carded a whopping 14 times in 51 appearances last season.

Fans say ‘hang it in the Louvre’ as Oli McBurnie outplays Mbappe with assist for minnows in shock draw with Real Madrid

OLI McBURNIE incredibly outperformed Kylian Mbappe as Las Palmas held Real Madrid to a shock 1-1 draw on Thursday night.

Mbappe, 25, scored on his Los Blancos debut in the Uefa Super Cup, but has failed to hit the back of the net in his first three LaLiga matches.

The latest of those came away at Las Palmas – a side playing ex-Swansea and Sheffield United McBurnie up front.

The Scotland international, 28, set up Alberto Moleiro for the opening goal of the game, playing a through ball to the Spaniard before he beat two men and fired into the bottom corner.

By contrast, Mbappe failed to register a first goal or assist for Real Madrid as their equaliser came thanks to a second-half Vinicius penalty.

And fans on social media could not believe McBurnie had upstaged France captain Mbappe.

One person said: “Hang it in the Louvre.”

Another added: “Oli McBurnie has just got an assist against Real Madrid. Superb. 😂

A third replied: “Just heard the commentator saying Rudiger’s having a very uncomfortable evening against McBurnie 🤣.”

While a fourth responded: “Is football real?”

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERS

And a fifth said: “No look as well 😂.”

McBurnie joined Las Palmas in the summer after being released by Sheffield United.

WhoScored.com rated his performance as a 7.28, while Mbappe could only manage a 6.99.

But Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti insisted prior to the draw with Las Palmas that there are no concerns around Mbappe.

He said: “His last goal was on August 14th. It has only been two weeks since, that is no reason to worry. Neither we are not worried as a club, nor him.

“He is very happy here, delighted, sure he wants to score in the next game. So does Vinicius, who has yet to score this season and I don’t see him worried either.

“[Mbappe] is progressing really well, I see him doing better every day, excited, motivated, training well. He is very humble. I think his adaptation is going really well.”

Real Madrid have made a slow start, drawing twice and winning once from their opening three games.

It means they trail rivals Barcelona by four points already.

Arsenal vs Brighton preview

In a clash of unbeaten teams, Arsenal and Brighton are set to face off, with only one able to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, have secured back-to-back 2-0 victories against Wolves and Aston Villa. The win over Villa was particularly significant given those two league defeats last season probably cost them the title.

Arteta’s squad demonstrated defensive resilience and a knack for finding crucial goals, highlighted by Leandro Trossard’s game-changing strike.

Arsenal will draw confidence from their solid performances and past victories over Brighton, having won 2-0 and 3-0 in their previous encounters.

However, this Brighton team, now managed by Fabian Hurzeler, presents a new challenge.

Hurzeler has made an impressive start to his Premier League tenure with a 3-0 win at Goodison Park and a thrilling stoppage-time victory against Manchester United.

Brighton’s attacking prowess is evident, as they have scored more goals than most teams, only trailing Manchester City and Chelsea. Additionally, their defence has been formidable, conceding the fewest shots on target (4) in the league.

When is Arsenal vs Brighton?

  • Arsenal vs Brighton will take place on Saturday, August 31
  • It is scheduled to kick off at 12:30pm BST
  • The encounter will take place at the Emirates Stadium, London

What TV channel is it on can it be live streamed?

  • You can subscribe to TNT Sports through Discovery+, BT, EE, Sky, and Virgin Media.
  • Alternatively, SunSport will have minute-by-minute coverage of the whole match.

What is the team news?

There’s nothing to serious for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to worry about ahead of this weekend’s contest.

Gabriel Jesus remains a doubt having missed the Aston Villa clash with a groin injury. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are unavailable, although a debut could be on the cards for £32.6million recruit Mikel Merino.

Brighton could welcome back Evan Ferguson and Pervis Estupinan. Both were included in the squad for the Carabao Cup win over Crawley, with the latter making a 20-minute cameo.

New signing Ferdi Kadioglu could make his Premier League debut, but fellow newbie Matt O’Riley requires surgery after injuring his ankle having been taken off after nine minutes midweek. Brajan Gruda and Mats Wieffer are currently doubts.

What are the odds for Arsenal vs Brighton?

Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

Arsenal vs Brighton betting tips and predictions

Low scoring

Sorry to disappoint, but I get the feeling there won’t be too many goals scored in this encounter.

Kai carded

As I mentioned earlier, Arsenal certainly have the appetite to win. In fact, only West Ham have committed more than Arsenal’s 33 fouls in two matches this season. Kai Havertz and Thomas Partey can account for over 36% of those and the German looks a far greater price at 11/2 — especially given he was carded a whopping 14 times in 51 appearances last season.

‘I’m so sorry’ – Stunning golf reporter forced to apologise as Shane Lowry accuses her of ‘blasphemy’ in live interview

SHANE LOWRY accused a golf reporter of “blasphemy” in a live interview after being left stunned by her lack of knowledge about Oasis.

Lowry was being interviewed on FanDuel TV by Ali McCann who asked the 37-year-old golf star which celebrity he would love to grab a drink with to pick their brain.

But after he answered Oasis, McCann was left looking confused[/caption]

The Irish golfer, speaking ahead of the final event of the FedEX Cup, responded by saying: “I’d love to have a drink with Oasis. You know Oasis are back together?”

However, McCann appeared confused at the answer, with Lowry then asking whether she knew who they were.

McCann then admitted: “I don’t even know.”

Lowry was shocked by the revelation, saying: “You don’t know who Oasis are?

“Oh my god… you’re obviously way younger than me.

“This is like the biggest news ever. You need to look them up.”

McCann was left red-faced as Lowry expressed his disbelief, before she said: “I’m so sorry, I’ll do that immediately after this.”

Someone outside of the camera shot could be heard commenting: “She doesn’t know who Oasis are?”

Ryder Cup hero Lowry turned and gestured to McCann as he said: “She doesn’t know Oasis. Blasphemy.”

McCann saw the funny side and doubled down on her apology, saying: “I just ruined this whole interview, I’m so sorry.”

Lowry added: “This is going to make it good though,” before he later shared the clip on social media with the caption: “I mean really?”

Sports reporter McCann later posted on Instagram: “Ashamed of myself tbh.”

Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher announced their reunion following a 15-year hiatus earlier this week, with tour dates pencilled in for next year.

However, talkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan has suggested the pair could be seen together next month during the all-British heavyweight boxing clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.
