Who is Emily Austin? Meet DAZN boxing presenter and influencer who has judged Miss Universe

EMILY Austin has achieved a great deal in her limited time on the planet.

She’s a top sports journalist, has amassed millions of online fans, judged Miss Universe and built her own beauty empire, all by the age of 23 — here’s everything you need to know her.

Who is Emily Austin?

Emily Austin is a multitalented American sports presenter, journalist, social media influencer, model and entrepreneur.

She came to prominence in the sports media industry — particularly her coverage of basketball and boxing.

Early life and education

Emily was born on May 24, 2001, in Brooklyn, New York, to Israeli parents.

She grew up on Long Island and attended North Shore Hebrew Academy for high school, graduating in 2019, before enrolling at Hofstra University to study journalism.

Despite her parents being secular Jews, Austin chose to embrace Jewish traditions from a young age, keeping kosher and observing Shabbat.

Career in sports journalism

Emily’s journey in sports journalism began in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic when she was an 18-year-old sophomore at Hofstra University.

She started by reaching out to professional athletes for interviews on Instagram, creating her vlog show Daily Vibes with Emily Austin.

This ultimately led to opportunities with MTV and Sports Illustrated, where she hosted NFL and boxing events.

In 2023, Emily launched NBA podcast The Hoop Chat with Emily Austin, which features interviews with prominent players.

Her work in sports broadcasting expanded to boxing when she began collaborating with DAZN on their boxing coverage in April 2024, covering major events like the Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov fight.

Famous sportspeople she’s interviewed

During her impressive career, Emily has spoken with some of the top names in the worlds of boxing and basketball.

Boxing:

Basketball

  • Shareef O’Neal – basketball player, son of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal
  • Scotty Pippen Jr – NBA player, son of NBA legend Scottie Pippen
  • Josh Giddey – NBA player for the Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Jalen Brunson – NBA player for the New York Knicks
  • Mitchell Robinson – NBA player for the New York Knicks
  • Enes Kanter – former NBA player who played for teams including the Boston Celtics
  • Ben McLemore – NBA player who played for teams including the Houston Rockets
  • Chet Holmgren – NBA player for the Oklahoma City Thunder
  • Grant Williams – NBA player for the Dallas Mavericks
  • Immanuel Quickley – NBA player for the New York Knicks

Other professional endeavours

When she was 17, Emily competed in the Miss New York Teen USA pageant, believing she would lift the crown, but didn’t place very high.

The experience came full circle when she was selected to be part of the 2023 Miss Universe judging panel.

One of the best things that I’m proud of is how affordable it is to get a month and a half’s worth of skincare

Speaking exclusively with The US Sun, Emily said: ”When I was 17, I would tell everyone it’s rigged, and then when they invited me to be the judge, I was like, ‘Wow, now I’m gonna find out’.

”There is no cheating. It is as clean as it gets.”

Emily has turned her hand to media consulting — she joined the Israeli mission to the United Nations, handling English communications and public relations.

She’s a writer as well, contributing to articles in publications like Newsweek, and has also featured as a panelist on Fox News programs.

Entrepreneurship

As if that’s not enough, Emily is also an entrepreneur — becoming the CEO of People’s Beauty, her own skincare company.

Originally soft-launched in May 2021, Emily took charge of the company ahead of the brand’s relaunch in April 2023.

She told us: “No one was investing the right marketing and PR into pushing the brand.”

All of the products come in recyclable packaging and are vegan, cruelty-free, non-toxic, as well as being free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, silicone, dyes, and fragrances.

She is also trying to break the narrative that skincare is only for women with her range of gender-neutral products.

“People’s Beauty is a breath of fresh air,” she said. “If I’m going to invest in this, then I’m giving it my all.”

Emily added: “One of the best things that I’m proud of is how affordable it is to get a month and a half’s worth of skincare.”

Social media influence and activism

Emily has amassed an enormous social media following, with over 2.4million followers on Instagram alone.

She uses her platform not only for sports coverage, but also for advocacy work, particularly in combating antisemitism and supporting Israel.

Following the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, Emily became more vocal about these issues, even visiting southern Israeli border communities in December 2023.

Recent work and recognition

As of September 2024, Emily’s career continues to flourish.

She was appointed as the social media reporter for DAZN Boxing in August 2024.

In March 2024, she also became president of the Abrahamic Athletic Academy.

The Jerusalem Post and the Ruderman Family Foundation recognised Austin as one of the key figures in combating antisemitism in 2023.

Jodi Albert, 41, who played Hollyoaks’ Debbie Dean, quit the show three years later.

During her time on the soap she often styled her brunette hair poker-straight and donned thick black eyeliner.

Jodi continued her telly career in shows including Casualty and British film Popcorn.

During her telly career she attracted huge fan attention and made it onto the annual list of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women three times.

In 2005, she also scooped the gong for Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards.

But Jodie shunned the celebrity circuit after marrying Westlife singer Kian Egan in 2009 – and now keeps fans up-to-date with life on her Instagram page.

The couple have three children and are raising them by the sea in Ireland.

Jodi – now the ultimate yummy mummy – often shares adorable snaps of her family and their idyllic life to her 147k followers.

In her Instagram bio, she describes herself as “London born/beach girl now.

“Raising three little wildlings with my love Kian Egan.”

In 2016, she told Irish radio station RTE she loves the quiet life and said: “As I got older and we had children I just really wanted to be part of a community.”

Her social media offers insights into their family life, including lavish overseas trips, supporting Kian on tour with Westlife and enjoying watersports.

She has always been candid about her life and, in 2022, told fans she had suffered a tragic miscarriage.

The screen star again took to Instagram to speak out about the “painful loss” after one fan had told her she looked pregnant in a recent photo.

She admitted she lost her baby at nine weeks in what was her second sad miscarriage in four years.

Jodie penned in her caption: “I posted a similar pic to this on Valentine’s Day.. one person commented and said she looks pregnant… on any other occasion I might have been offended but on this occasion I thought… ooh she guessed it right, I am and I cannot wait to get to 12 weeks to share our happy news!!!

“But sadly we lost our little one at nine weeks pregnant .. this is my second miscarriage although 3 1/2 years apart… this one hit differently because we allowed ourselves to get excited and dream about what the future would look like with a new beautiful little blessing to add to our family.”

Jodie said she worried about sharing her news, but urge others to remember they aren’t alone if they are going through the same thing.

She continued: “I have written out this post and deleted it so many times as my biggest fear has been having to tell people but I know that by talking or posting about it, it can be so helpful for anyone going through this painful loss …

“The silence after the D&C procedure is deafening because you are left with so many thoughts and questions that can sometimes never be answered.

“I think it’s part of a positive healing process or maybe it’s just for me to remember that it was real and that little baby did exist and was loved so much.”

She ended her post by praising Kian, adding: “To my husband who has just been my rock .. you are the most amazing man…

“I love you and our boys so much and am so grateful for what I already have.”

This year, Jodie and Kian rung in 2024 with a sweet celebration on the beach.

Craig Levein breaks silence on his shock St Johnstone sacking as he makes swift return to media duties

CRAIG LEVEIN has broken silence on his shock departure from St Johnstone.

The former Scotland boss was sacked by the Perth club just five league games into the season – just hours before the club’s new US owner Adam Webb revealed that he is suffering from cancer.

21.09.2024 St.Mirren v Hearts, SPFL Premiership ....................... CRAIG LEVEIN BACK ON MEDIA DUTIES AFTER ST.JOHNSTONE SACKING
Craig Levein wasted little time returning to his media duties

Asked about the affair on BBC Sportsound, Levein said: “Can I tell you why? No, not really.

“I do think that performances have been good, results haven’t been as good as the performances. We’ve also had some difficulties – five sendings off, which doesn’t help. And we’ve had a few injuries. I still think the team is competing in every match we’ve played.

“But it’s Adam’s club, he’s come in, he’s calling the shots and he’s decided that it is time for me to go.

“It was a surprise but I’ve been here in this movie before and I dare say if I get back in I will be in it again.

“I actually got on all right with him. The priorities for me were just about trying to improve the squad and get results. I think Adam was looking at the bigger picture.

“But listen I got on okay with him, there weren’t issues on that front. And I’ve been in the game long enough to know how it works.

“If you don’t get results then the chances are you will lose your job and I guess that is what has happened.

“I don’t think [there was any particular moment]. There was nothing in the conversations that indicated that.

“But obviously it came after the loss late on against Motherwell, Adam has been thinking about it and has decided to pull the trigger.

“I’ve been here hundreds of times.

“The only think I’m little bit disappointed as I think we had a good squad this season certainly in the front line with lots of options and lots of goalscorers and I was looking forward to him but unfortunately that is not going to happen now.

“Not getting results is the most obvious reason there is. But I think there’s more to it than that. There were good signs that the team were better than they were last season.

“We were playing much better football, creating more chances. Those things are facts, easy to research, and I think with the firepower we had we had a good chance of getting into the top six this season.

“It’s Adam’s decision. He bought the club from Geoff and he makes the decision.

“I’m hoping Andy Kirk gets the benefit of that and gets to work with the guys.

“If it goes the same way as other clubs with American owners have got I don’t think Andy stands a chance, they always want to bring their own guys in.

“I feel better leaving this job than I did leaving Hearts. I think I’ve made progress and we’ve got the semblance of a good mid table team. “

“I feel like I’ve done a decent job at St Johnstone – certainly last season staying up – and I think the signings I’ve made improved the team but we’ll see.”
