The fourth largest city in Morrocco has become increasingly popular with tourists over the years.

And it’s now been crowned Most Budget Friendly Autumn Getaway 2024 by DiscoverCars.com.

In the car rental company’s latest report cities were scored on a number of factors:

  • average temperature in September, October and November
  • average daylight hours during these months.

Marrakech scored best for average rainfall, with just 25mm during September, October and November.

It also came up top for the longest daylight hours, with an average of nine hours during Autumn.

While the average flight cost to Marrakech Airport is on the pricier side (£253), the average cost of a week-long hotel stay was just £168.

Its average temperature was one of the highest at 19C.

Here are some of the cheapest things you can get up to in the city.

Nestled in the heart of Marrakech is Bahia Palace – a 19th century building decorated with stunning paintings and mosaics.

The palace was set up by Si Moussa, grand vizir of the sultan, for his personal use, and named after one of his wives.

Its gardens are particularly popular, with orange and banana trees, cypress trees, hibiscus plants and jasmine shading the walkways.

Entry to the palace is free.

Grab a cheap bite to eat at Jemaa el-Fnaa

Jemaa el-Fnaa is the main square and market place in Marrakech’s medina quarter.

There are plenty of restaurants dotted around the square serving local delicacies like tagine, brochettes (skewered kebabs), fried fish and couscous.

Prices are very cheap – you can have a hearty meal for just £9-13.

Explore the iconic El Badi Palace

I’m on maternity leave and made £234 in 24 hours without leaving the house – here’s how to get quick sales on Vinted

A MOTHER has shared how she made £234 in just 24 hours without leaving the house.

Molly Hunter, who is from North Yorkshire and is currently on maternity leave, explained that thanks to her simple Vinted tip, she has raked in the cash, and fast.

Social media users were thankful for the helpful advice[/caption]

So if you’ve got loads of clothes that have been sitting in your wardrobe for months and you’re looking to earn some cash quickly, then you’ve come to the right place.

The savvy mum-of-two took to social media to share her advice, as she explained: “So I feel like I can’t gate-keep this and you’ve probably seen it all over your For You page, but this is your sign, if you want to make more money, you need to do this.

“I managed to make £234 in 24 hours and I am mind blown that this actually worked.

“So for a bit of context, I am on maternity leave. I’m 12 months in, I’ve still got another month left, and I’m trying to make a little income on the side where possible.

“I do my partnerships with brands which is great, but obviously I want a constant little flow if I can, alongside my maternity pay.”

The brunette beauty then confirmed: “How I managed to make £234 in 24 hours was Vinted.

“I’ve been seeing it all over my For You page, people saying delete everything off your Vinted and reupload it.”

The content creator shared that she gave the trick a try, as she continued: “I had 110 items but then I had a massive pile to upload, so it actually came to 150 items by the time I uploaded it all.

“I set up a little area in my bedroom, I took pictures of them all on the same background.

“I had a towel ladder, put some nice blankets on it, so that it looked really consistent.

“I did this last Saturday, we are on Friday now, so it’s nearly a week and I am currently sitting at £366 and I have got 86 items left.

“So I’ve not sold all my items, I’m still getting offers and I’m accepting them, getting them posted straight away, so obviously the money will come through as quickly as possible.”

New Vinted rules to be aware of

IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.

If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.

However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.

You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.

A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit – the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.

However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.

It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.

While your data won’t be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you’ll still need to pay tax as normal.

The side hustler advised Vinted users to give the trick a try, as she concluded: “I did it, and the results have definitely paid off.

“I am so grateful that it worked, because this has really helped me out in my last month of maternity leave.

“And it means I’ll be able to do some really exciting things with the girls before I go back to work.”

SOCIAL MEDIA USERS REACT

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @mollyandmine, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 21,800 views.

Social media users were thankful for Molly’s advice and many flocked to the comments to express this.

One person said: “I’ve just done this so fingers crossed it works.”

Just done the same, made £100 last week on a couple of items

Another added: “Great advice, I’m just about to set up a Vinted account so this was a great video to come across.”

A third commented: “I have a big bundle to upload so I’m going to do this today!”

At the same time, many confessed that they too have tried this tip and have had success.

One Vinted seller beamed: “This worked for me too! Amazing.”

A second chimed in: “We’ve just done the same, made £100 last week on a couple of items.”

Whilst someone else claimed: “I’ve been doing this for a while and it works!”

Do I need to pay tax on my side hustle income?

MANY people feeling strapped for cash are boosting their bank balance with a side hustle.

The good news is, there are plenty of simple ways to earn some additional income – but you need to know the rules.

When you’re employed the company you work for takes the tax from your earnings and pays HMRC so you don’t have to.

But anyone earning extra cash, for example from selling things online or dog walking, may have to do it themselves.

Stephen Moor, head of employment at law firm Ashfords, said: “Caution should be taken if you’re earning an additional income, as this is likely to be taxable.

“The side hustle could be treated as taxable trading income, which can include providing services or selling products.”

You can make a gross income of up to £1,000 a year tax-free via the trading allowance, but over this and you’ll usually need to pay tax.

Stephen added: “You need to register for a self-assessment at HMRC to ensure you are paying the correct amount of tax.

“The applicable tax bands and the amount of tax you need to pay will depend on your income.”

If you fail to file a tax return you could end up with a surprise bill from HMRC later on asking you to pay the tax you owe – plus extra fees on top.

Lebanon warns of ‘doomsday scenario’ as Israeli troops ‘poised to pour over border’ & Netanyahu ‘pushes for all-out war’

LEBANON has warned of a “doomsday scenario” as Israeli troops are poised to invade the country and Benjamin Netanyahu pushes for all-out war.

Hezbollah issued a chilling threat yesterday after exploding pagers and walkie-talkies left 37 dead, 3,600 maimed and wounded, and set tensions skyrocketing.

The strikes come after Mossad bugged pagers with explosives

The Wall Street Journal reports US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has told senior Pentagon officials he feared Israel could soon invade.

Israeli officials declared the start of a “new phase” of the war just days ago and a crack army unit was moved north.

Rami Mortada, Lebanon’s ambassador to the UK, told The Times an Israeli invasion would be a “doomsday scenario”.

He said: “We are facing all the risks of an all-out regional conflict and that’s what we have been tirelessly trying to avoid.

“Let’s hope that we don’t get there because this is a doomsday scenario for everyone. It’s definitely a doomsday for Lebanon but Lebanon will not hurt alone in this war.”

Mortada warned that Hezbollah was a “formidable fighting force” and claimed Israel should be weary of another inconclusive war like in 2006.

Netanyahu is also poised to sack his Defence Minister who has been pushing for a ceasefire and get the hostages returned.

The Prime Minister has been pushing for a broader battle with the terror group to Israel’s north, The Times reports.

He wants to show off the country’s strength a year after the terror attack on his watch made it look weak.

The IDF yesterday launched fresh strikes against Hezbollah, claiming to destroy 100 rocket launchers and around 1,000 launch barrels in the strikes.

Israeli Defence Forces chiefs said the massive attack was to “degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities and infrastructure”.

Black and white footage posted to social media showed the country blowing up targets.

A spokesman said: “For decades, Hezbollah has weaponized civilian homes, dug tunnels beneath them and used civilians as human shields.

“The IDF is operating to bring security to northern Israel in order to enable the return of residents to their homes and achieve war goals.”

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah denounced the pager sabotage yesterday[/caption]

Israeli commanders said Hezbollah would “pay an increasing price” and issued warnings to locals to steer clear of the border and expect to hear louds blasts while troops trained there.

Israeli Defence Forces’ crack 98th Division has been redeployed to the north from Gaza and will be fine tuning battle plans over the weekend in readiness for a ground invasion.

US officials monitoring soaring tension said they were “afraid and concerned about potential escalation” as UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy called for an immediate ceasefire.

Three Lebanese security sources told Reuters the strikes were the most intense bombing since October last year.

Iran-backed Hezbollah meanwhile said it launched at least 17 attacks on military sites in northern Israel.

Speaking for the first time yesterday since the deadly device sabotage, Hezbollah boss Hassan Nasrallah vowed Israel would face retribution.

Nasrallah said Israel would face “tough retribution and just punishment, where it expects it and where it does not” and described the attacks as a “massacre” and a possible “act of war”.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards commander Hossein Salami assured ally Nasrallah that Israel will face “a crushing response from the axis of resistance”.

Analysts have told The Sun they also believe Israel could be set to invade and the pager blitz may have been an opening salvo.

Avner Avraham claims Israel is directly challenging Hezbollah to start a war in retaliation, so it can then invade Lebanon and wipe them out.

Netanyahu vowed on Wednesday to return the evacuated Israelis “securely to their homes”.

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant declared the start of a “new phase” of war as the country’s army moved north.

The announcement paves the way for the first full-scale invasion of southern Lebanon since 2006 in a drive to push back the terror group and allow Israelis to return home.

But the risky move raises the spectre of Hezbollah backers, Iran being drawn into a devastating regional conflict.

Ex-Mossad agent Avraham said the chess move attack was Israel saying: “Don’t mess with us”.

He said: “The attack yesterday was so strong and wide if they [Hezbollah] do start a limited war, they will lose immediately.

“In the north, we have to start a limited war and we prefer that Hezbollah would make the first mistake.

“The response would be a huge damage to Lebanon, it would go 100 years back.”

Where did the pagers come from?

By James Halpin, Foreign News Reporter

Iranian proxy Hezbollah ordered the pagers months ago but never thought the quaint piece of tech could be tampered with.

Hezbollah shifted to pagers after the group’s leader told members to stop using phones in February over fears they could be tracked by Israeli spies.

A senior Lebanese security source said the group had ordered 5,000 beepers made by Taiwan-based Gold Apollo, which were brought into the country in the spring.

But Gold Apollo told media in Taipei today the specific order was manufactured by BAC Consulting KFT in Budapest.

Gold Apollo boss Hsu Ching-kuang said BAC asked to manufacture their own pagers with the company’s trademark and they were paid from a mystery Middle Eastern bank account, NPR reports.

BAC Consulting chief executive Cristiana Bársony-Arcidiacono confirmed to media that her company worked with Gold Apollo.

But said, “I don’t make the pagers. I am just the intermediate.”

At some point during the manufacture, the devices were modified by Israel’s spy service with a small amount of explosive.

The AR-924 pager is described as being “rugged” and contains a rechargeable lithium battery with 85 days of battery life.

Their longevity would be important in Lebanon which has suffered major power outages.

Pagers also run on a different wireless network than mobile phones, making them more resilient in emergencies and harder for Israel to hack digitally.

The affected pagers were only delivered to Hezbollah recently.

Reports now claim Mossad set up shell companies to build the devices themselves.

But the New York Times reported BAC is an Israeli shell company, one of at least three used by spies to mask their identity.

BAC took on ordinary clients for whom they produced ordinary pagers.

Pagers sent to Hezbollah, however, contained the explosive PETN.

The actress stunned in a black mini dress and sheer tights just three months after giving birth for the first time.

Former The Inbetweeners star Emily later took to Instagram to share a sweet snap of her holding Barney while in the make-up chair ahead of the premiere.

Proving she’s a natural at juggling mum life with her busy job, Emily was seen holding her son while having her hair done.

She shares with Barney with her scientist boyfriend Dr Alistair Garner.

The couple were first spotted in September last year and moved in together ahead of Barney’s birth.

Emily stars as Sarah Stratton in Rivals, an adaptation of the Jilly Cooper novel of the same name.

Sarah has an affair with Rupert Campbell-Black, who is played by Hollywood actor Alex Hassell, best known for his roles in George Clooney’s Suburbicon in 2017 and BBC fantasy series His Dark Materials.

The Sun previously revealed that Emily will strip off for a famous scene from the book during which Sarah gets naked during a game of tennis.

Also in the cast are Danny Dyer and David Tennent, who play Freddie Jones and Lord Tony Baddingham.

In a synopsis to preview the series, Disney wrote: “The story is set against the backdrop of the drama, excess, and shocking antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England.

“In the fictional county of Rutshire, a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over.

“Alex Hassell plays dashing ex-Olympian, Tory Member of Parliament and incorrigible rake, the dangerously charismatic Rupert Campbell-Black.

“David Tennant plays Rupert’s single-mindedly ambitious and egotistical Rutshire neighbour Lord Tony Baddingham, controller of Corinium Television.”
