Keir Starmer will promise ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ in first conference speech as Prime Minister

KEIR Starmer will promise “light at the end of the tunnel” in his first conference speech as Prime Minister.

The PM will tell Brits we face a “shared struggle” on the economy and will warn he could not offer “false hope” about the challenges ahead.

After infighting at No 10 and rows over donations, he will suggest: “I know this country is exhausted by and with politics.

“I know the cost-of-living crisis drew a veil over the joy and wonder in our lives and people want respite and relief — and may even have voted Labour for that reason.

“Our project has not and never will change. I changed the Labour Party to restore it to the service of working people. That is exactly what we will do for Britain.”

The start of Labour’s government has been characterised by a gloomy outlook on public finances.

Sir Keir will say: “The politics of national renewal are collective. They involve a shared struggle.

“A project that says, to everyone, this will be tough in the short term, but in the long term it’s the right thing to do for our country. And we all benefit from that.”

He will also warn the country is too relaxed about importing foreign workers.

In his first speech to Labour conference as PM, he’ll promise: “It is the policy of this Government to reduce both net migration and our economic dependency on it.

“I have never thought we should be relaxed about some sectors importing labour when there are millions of young people, ambitious and highly talented, who are desperate to work and contribute.”

The Migration Advisory Committee that sets visa levels will give ministers early warnings on sectors where migration is rocketing so Brit workers can be trained.

And firms found to be abusing visa rules or sponsorships will be outlawed from hiring foreigners.

FC IQ is EA Sports FC’s hot new feature and players can’t afford to overlook it

IT’S September, and that means that another entry in the EA Sports FC, formerly FIFA, series is about to be released.

Ultimate Edition players are already in the game, but Standard Edition players have to wait a bit longer for their fun.

FC IQ is the biggest change to the series[/caption]

Just like with all new entries, EA Sports FC 25 doesn’t shake up the tried and tested formula, and adds just a few new concepts.

But while the changes are small, they’ll mean a lot to long-time fans rather than your typical UT grinders.

The biggest change is the new FC IQ feature, which adds an extra layer to how you manage your team’s tactics.

The complex system will put off fans at first, but once you start experimenting it adds a whole new layer of depth.

Essentially it means that your position no longer dictates your role on the team, meaning you’ll have to consider your players more carefully.

With FC IQ, players can automatically change formation depending on whether they are attacking or defending, which is a nifty new trick.

EA FC worked fine before the change, and many will ignore FC IQ, but we think the system will really shine once competitive online multiplayer truly gets underway.

The other major change is the unified season pass, which allows players to gain XP across their teams regardless of the mode they play in.

This will likely give a much needed boost to Career Mode, as players can level up solo rather than grinding endless UT matches.

Ultimate Team has received no major new features for the first time in years, giving another boost to Career Mode’s playability.

All new menus added to Career Mode allow you to map out your season, giving a greater sense of what advantages each action can give you.

On the pitch, it will play the same as you remember, though players are more likely to get physical when snatching the ball away from an opponent.

This has given a boost to your defensive capabilities, but more is needed to make these players as valuable as they are in real life.

Goalkeepers are probably the most improved, particularly on low balls and in 1v1 scenarios. Power and finesse shots also feel significantly nerfed.

We played EA Sports FC 25 on the PS5 which is where the new Graphics mode is debuting, but we felt like the differences were pretty trivial.

The AR elements tended to linger on the screen for too long, and while flashy, we could do without these and the cutscenes when going for a quick throw-in.

Compared to last year, the number of innovations have been cut to the bone, but the number of things that can be done with FC IQ alone is impressive.

However, if you ignore this feature, and it can be easy to overlook, you’ll just see more of the same, just a  little shinier, though at this point it’s what fans expect.

The star recently ditched her brunette tresses for a new look.

She showcased her blonde shorter hairdo in a snaps, looking very different to her character Sarah.

Sarah was introduced on the soap over a decade ago, and her character was put through a number of gripping storylines, including finding out her fiancé Craig Dean was having an affair with his best mate John Paul McQueen.

The twist and turns of Loui’s on-screen alter-ego weren’t over yet, as she embarked on lesbian relationships with Zoe and Lydia.

But the most shocking moment in the scriptwriters’ plot was Sarah’s dramatic exit from Hollyoaks, in 2009.

They decided to mark the character’s departure from the soap with a tragic skydiving death.

At the time, Loui spoke about the epic storyline to Digital Spy commenting: “I’ve been there for quite a while and it was a great ending for the character – I couldn’t have asked for a better way to go.”

WHERE IS LOUI NOW?

After leaving Hollyoaks, Loui continued to pursue her career in acting.

The Lancashire lass appeared in TV short Following Footsteps in 2010 before featuring in Doctors in 2015.

After that, Loui embarked on a very different project since leaving the popular soap behind, performing as one-half of double-act Verity & Violet.

The duo offer bookings for Christmas and themed experiences including the Great Gatsby, forties, classic and pop.

Their website says: “A combination of all that we do – generally starting slower & building to our more up tempo tracks.

“A vintage inspired mix of old school classics, jazzy numbers, post modern & more contemporary music.”

She has also enjoyed success in the theatre world, appearing in Tower Block in 2018 and also starring in The Nutcracker and Six Feet Under.
