Watch ‘frightening’ moment learner driver is caught in the middle of high-speed police chase during driving test

THIS is the ‘frightening’ moment a learner driver was caught up in a high-speed police chase during her test.

The terrified teen was inches away from a nasty smash as the offending driver hurtled past in the wrong lane after blowing through a red light.

In a video posted by DGN Driving, driving student Chloe tried her hand at a mock test but got a more chaotic journey than she was expecting.

During the course of the test, she pulled up to a standard T-junction controlled by a set of lights.

Stopping promptly for the red light, she was startled when a black Nissan SUV approached from the other direction at speed.

The vehicle flew through the red light, narrowly avoiding another car turning onto the main road.

After cutting up a third motor, the Nissan changed onto the wrong side of the road and sped on up the road.

It passed Chloe at a dangerous pace, avoiding the passenger side of her car by a matter of inches.

Baffled by the driver’s behaviour, she exclaimed: “What the hell?”

However, it soon became clear why the Nissan was in such a hurry as an unmarked police car followed close behind with its sirens blaring.

The Audi roadster carrying the cops also sped through the red light, forcing a hatchback to brake sharply as it crossed the carriageway.

The police car then passed by Chloe in hot pursuit.

She added: “Oh he’s in a police chase.

“That’s bad timing to have this.

“That was bad.

“He’s just come bombing it down here.”

Sadly for Chloe, though, the chase didn’t give much mitigation for the outcome of her test, as she still racked up 10 serious faults and six minor faults along the way.

However, social media commenters praised her for keeping her cool in the hectic situation.

One wrote: “This was just crazy man.

Props to Chloe for staying calm during it.

“I would have probably panicked.”

It comes after a major road was suddenly closed due to flooding as drivers were told to “expect delays”.

Tight-lipped Mikel Arteta hints Arsenal picked up ‘serious’ injury against Man City as he says ‘we have to wait on one’

MIKEL ARTETA has revealed that Arsenal are sweating on a potentially serious injury suffered by one of their players during their clash with Manchester City on Sunday.

The Gunners boss, 42, was speaking ahead of his side’s Carabao Cup clash with Bolton tomorrow.

Arsenal were accused of time wasting by Man City stars[/caption]

With plenty of Arsenal players having gone down during the 2-2 draw with City, Arteta was asked whether any of them are struggling to be available for the Trotters cup clash.

Keeping his cards close to his chest, the Spaniard said: “I always prefer the facts than words ‘supposing’ things.

“So let’s see who is available tomorrow, and then we can talk about dark arts, or these things.”

Arsenal were heavily criticised for their time-wasting antics during Sunday’s match, with several City players hitting out in public – including skipper Kyle Walker accusing them of “dark arts”.

Arteta continued: “Unfortunately yes, there will be players unavailable.”

When asked specifically about Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, Arteta cut in, with a smile: “Tomorrow, you will find it, when I give the line-up.”

Further quizzed on whether any “serious injuries” had been sustained on Sunday, Arteta responded: “We have to wait, one of them.”

The Gunners boss did not, however, disclose which player his side are sweating on.

Bukayo Saka was replaced by Ben White at half-time of Sunday’s game, although the substitution was likely tactical due to Leandro Trossard‘s red card.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper David Raya was seen limping as he left the Etihad Stadium.

Should Raya miss out, Arsenal could be forced into handing their 16-year-old fourth choice goalkeeper a senior debut against Bolton.

The Gunners’ new No2 Neto, who replaced Aaron Ramsdale last month, is cup-tied for the match after starting Bournemouth’s second round clash with West Ham.

Third choice Tommy Setford also appears to be sidelined, having not been named in a squad since the international break.

This could lead to Jack Porter, 16, playing against Bolton – having been named on the bench for the 0-0 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League last week.

Arsenal already had a sizeable injury list going into Sunday’s match.

Martin Odegaard has been sidelined since the international break with an ankle injury, while Mikel Merino is nursing a shoulder issue.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney both missed out, while Takehiro Tomiyasu was also unavailable due to a knee injury.

Arteta may turn to his youngsters for tomorrow’s match, with Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly in line to feature – while Raheem Sterling could be handed his first Gunners start.

We thought games like this had been lost

SunSport's NEIL CUSTIS hails chaotic Man City vs Arsenal clash as a return to the Premier League of yesteryear.

FOR two teams who have done so much to take the game forward this really was a tremendous throwback.

We thought these games had been lost.

Real feisty encounters between two rivals fighting for the top honours.

How we used to love it when Manchester United came up against Arsenal when Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger were in charge.

When Roy Keane, watching on as a TV pundit here, used to clash with Patrick Vieira before a ball had been kicked.

The Manchester derbies used to have it as well.

In fact that were clashes everywhere throughout the league.

Since then the emphasis on the beauty of the game, the tactical side, the ball playing centre-back, the false nine, the inverted full-backs have all come to the fore.

But English football still loves something like this.

Compare this to the two matches between this pair last season not least the really STALEmate here.

Then along comes a blood and thunder classic.

A match to set the tone for what we all hope will be a real title tussle to the end but with that added edge.

While these two managers maybe good friends who knows we may even get the niggly comments in pre-match press conferences about each others teams.

We knew we were in for something a bit different as straight from the kick-off Kai Havertz charged into Rodri and left him flawed.

The first players’ melee ensued.

Foreign coaches often scratch their heads as to why English crowds love stuff like this.

Love a thumping tackle, or a bit of a barney.

How that as much as any sweeping move gets them to the edge of their seats and there was plenty of that here.

Jurrien Timber was employed on the right to combat the pace of Jeremy Doku.

SO Doku just charged into him and floored him.

Rodri was clearly seen as one of City’s key men so at a corner Thoams Party followed up Havertz’s early example and caught him behind the knee, and the player hobbled out of the action.

Gabriel and Erling Haaland was a classic battle between a big centre-forward and an Arsenal centre-back who performs like greats of old like Tony Adams and Martin Keown.

A player for whom a thumping tackle warrants the same high fives or celebrations as something defining at the other end of the pitch.

Haaland did brilliantly to pull away William Saliba and slip behind Gabriel for his goal.

Gabriel will have been fuming having kept the big Norwegian so quiet last season.

He barely gave him another sniff of goal, barring a second-half header saved, as he stuck to him, the pair often pushing and shoving one another as Haaland became frustrated with his shadow.

Leandro Trossard did not get his second yellow and therefore the only red for the actual barge on Bernardo as everyone first thought but for kicking the ball away after that.

Both technical areas were a flurry of arm waving and shouting from the two managers.

The staff on the two benches started having a go at each other and Guardiola had to intervene.

In the press box one of Arsenal’s technical staff was losing it.

As Arsenal players went down with cramp and played for time the boos went up.

The fourth official was getting in the ear.

Michael Oliver was being told he was not fit to referee by a large section of the home support.

When Arsenal fans were spotted in the posh seats having been in the expensive tunnel club City fans shouted and pointed to try and get them ejected.

Right at the end after City’s dramatic equaliser and the game restarted Haaland barged into Partey and every player on the pitch got involved even the two goalkeepers.

At the final whistle the ref was harrangued.

On the touchline Guardiola and Arteta hugged.

Watch as The Voice’s Danny O’Donoghue pays emotional tribute to late The Script star bandmate live on TV

THE VOICE star Danny O’Donoghue has paid an emotional tribute to his late bandmate Mark Sheehan live on TV.

The Irish singer, 43, appeared on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday as he discussed The Script’s latest studio album, Satellites, released last month.

The conversation then turned to the devastating loss of his best mate and the band’s guitarist Mark in 2023, aged 46.

Danny emotionally said: “Last year was devastating, we lost my best friend and guitarist in the band, Mark, it took us a little while to come out from underneath that.”

The For The First Time hitmaker admitted he spent his days “drinking and smoking” following his friend’s passing.

“I went down a bit of a hole last year, drinking and trying to get over the grief of your best mate,” he continued.

“I gave up drink, alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine. I’m not fun anymore but I’m healthy! Coming into this year as completely sober.”

Danny explained that grief can hit everyone differently but said the new album served as a therapeutic process.

“You never really get rid of grief, it’s always there, you just learn to grow around it,” he said.

He added: “It’s in real time, some days are better than others and I guess I’ll come on maybe a show like this and I’ll see pictures.

“Get shown them all the time, it’s both heartbreaking but also a great testament.

“People remember him in such a way and he touched so many people’s lives around the world. It’s beautiful.”

The star said it was heartbreaking that Mark was not here to witness their new album, but said that it was dedicated to him.

Mark was co-founder of The Script back in 2001 but worked in music for years before with pal Danny, with the pair being best mates since the age of 12.

Danny, who has been booze, caffeine and tobacco-free since the end of December, opened up for the first time in May.

He was frank as he admitted to host Lorraine Kelly, 64: “Around Christmas-time, I went after the rails after Mark passed away.

“Like everybody does. Drinking, smoking, everything.

“I went on a mental block – I had a writers’ block for a long time last year.”

He then told how he came up with a particularly lyric about “a shooting star across the sky” which became the catalyst for the band’s new material.

He added: “It was the first time I felt able to articulate what I thought about the situation and the floodgates really opened then, as far as being creative.”

Danny then told how The Script would be touring their new material both on-stage supporting US popstar Pink and on their on shows.

SAD STATEMENT

The Dublin-based group released a sad statement after Mark’s unexpected death.

It read: “Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness.

“The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”

GREAT MATES

Danny and Mark were best friends since the age of 12 and originally part of boy band Mytown.

This group formed back in 1996.

The BFFs then recruited drummer Glen Power to complete what would be The Script line-up.

Mark spent most of his time in the US with his wife Reena.

He was happily married to the Texas native and the pair shared three kids before his tragic passing.

Back in 2022, Danny told how Mark had taken a break from touring the year before, to spend more time with his family.

Hall Of Fame singer Danny said: “It’s his story to tell, but yeah, I guess if I could paraphrase, his children needed a father and his wife needed a husband.

“He’s been the engine of The Script for such a long time, [I told him] that ‘if you want to take a bit of time out for your family you are more than welcome to, and I insist on you going and doing it’.

“He took a little bit of time off. You get refreshed, then you come back with a new zest for life.

“And I believe it was the best thing that could have happened for all of us.”
