Deliveries of two hugely popular car models put ‘on hold’ with 1000s recalled worldwide over potentially defective parts

MINI has put deliveries of its latest models on ice over a safety recall due to potentially defective parts.

Delays have occurred to orders of the new three and five-door Cooper and the Countryman SUV because of an impending brake system recalled that has already affected the manufacturer’s parent company BWM.

Around 80,000 BMW and Rolls-Royce models worldwide have been called back for the same issue, which could see drivers lose control of their cars.

Mini UK confirmed to Autocar it had “partially” halted deliveries of Cooper and Countryman models due to the problem.

It is thought to be the same issue that has already sparked recalls in February for BMW’s latest 5 Series and 7 Series as well as the current generations of the X1, X3, X5, X6, X7 and XM SUVs.

Also affected are the electric i5 and i7 as well as Rolls-Royce’s first EV, the £330,000 Spectre.

I’m owed FREE Oasis ticket after ‘promise’ when last gig was cancelled – I don’t care that they’re being flogged for £7k

OASIS should honour tickets from one of their last “disaster” gigs on their new tour after “promising” they’d good for another show, a fan has claimed.

Damian Crilly, 35, said he hopes his £38.30 standing pass at Heaton Park, Manchester from 2009 will gain him entrance to a 2025 gig – which are selling on resale sites for up to £7,000.

He claims: “I remember them saying we could use the tickets the next time they played.

“I want to cash mine in now.”

He said he was part of the millions in the Ticketmaster queues who wanted to buy tickets legitimately.

But it was uncle, Gareth Crilly, who is now unable to walk easily, who reminded him of the alleged deal the Gallagher brothers made 15 years ago.

Supposedly, at the time, many Oasis fans took up Noel’s offer of a refund.

Almost 20,000 refunds were sent out – in the form of a cheque emblazoned with the ‘Bank of Burnage’.

Although the cheques also featured the Oasis logo, they were legal tender and it is thought more than 90 per cent of them were cashed.

Others opted to keep hold of their unique cheques signed by the band as a collector’s item.

On June 4 2009, the first of three nights at Heaton Park saw support act The Enemy drop out due to food poisoning.

Playing in front of 70,000 fans, they were nearing the end of Rock ‘n’ Roll Star when the sound system cut out.

When they launched into Lyla a couple of minutes later, two huge screens went blank as plumes of smoke rose from behind the stage.

The band left and did not return until 45 minutes later.

Noel apologised, blaming it on the electrical generator, and said, “This is a free gig from now on”

He later joked: “The generator blew up and they had to go and borrow one from the Argos in Manchester.”

The concert ended 15 minutes after the official 11pm finishing time.

The Sun has contacted Liam and Noel Gallagher’s representatives for a comment.

This comes after livid fans hit out after the rush for reunion tickets turned into a costly chaos.

After queueing for 11 hours, millions of fans were kicked out of the line before they had the chance to nab themselves a ticket.

Others saw prices surge “Uber-style” due to the high demand – meaning £150 tickets escalated to £495.

Desperate fans hope that if more gigs are scheduled, they might get the chance to see the iconic Gallagher brothers.

The Sun understands one solution being considered is another six dates at Wembley later next year.

From smelly feet to bad breath – what your body odour can reveal about your health and when to worry

WE all smell from time to time, whether it’s after a gym class, a stressful day at work or cramming ourselves into a sweaty tube carriage during rush hour.

But if you have persistently pongy feet or foul breath, your body could be tipping you off to something.

a poster explains the different body odour health clues
Your diet and general hygiene can affect your body odour, as can certain health conditions

Kenny Chan, lead information services pharmacist at Numark, said: “Body odour can provide important clues about your health.

“Even though it is normal for everyone to have a scent, changes in your body odour can sometimes indicate underlying health issues,” he told the Sun.

There are a few common causes of body odour, the pharmacist explained.

Diet can affect your overall aroma, particularly foods like garlic, onions and certain spices.

Your hygiene can also play a role – if you don’t keep on top of it, bacteria can accumulate on your skin and cause body odour.

As for sweat, Kenny revealed that it doesn’t make you stinky in the way that you’d think.

“Sweat itself is odourless, but when it mixes with bacteria on the skin, it can produce an unpleasant smell,” he said.

From musty breath to fusty feet and excessive sweating – here are four different types of body odour and what they could mean about your health.

1. Smelly feet

There are a few different causes of smelly feet, with poor hygiene being a major one.

“Not washing feet regularly or wearing the same shoes and socks for extended periods can lead to odour,” Kenny explained.

But you might also be getting funky wafts whenever you remove your socks and shoes if you have a fungal infection.

According to Kenny: “Athlete’s foot is a common fungal infection that can cause a strong odour.”

One of the main symptoms of the condition is itchy, white patches between your toes.

It’s unlikely to go away on its own, but you can treat it with anti-fungal medicines from a pharmacy.

Finally, excessive sweating can also result in pongy feet.

As the pharmacist explained, “excessive sweating can create a moist environment that promotes bacterial growth, leading to odour”.

2. Bad breath

Bad breath – also referred to as halitosis – can result from bacteria that builds up in the mouth if your dental hygiene isn’t the best, according to Kenny.

But conditions like gingivitis, the earliest stage of gum disease, can make your breath persistently musty.

Other symptoms of gum disease include your gums bleeding when you brush your teeth, floss and eat hard foods, as well as swollen, red and sore gums.

You should see a dentist if you notice these symptoms.

Having a dry mouth can also mean that your breath isn’t the freshest.

That’s because saliva helps cleanse the mouth, according to Kenny, so a lack of it can lead to bad breath.

Unsurprisingly, what you eat can play a part too.

“Foods like garlic, onions, and certain spices can cause temporary bad breath,” the pharmacist said.

Finally, medical conditions could also be behind your foul breath that doesn’t seem to go away even if you’re brushing your teeth.

Kenny said: “Chronic bad breath can be a sign of conditions like diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, or gastrointestinal issues.”

3. Excessive sweating

It’s normal to sweat if you get hot or do exercise, but you may be sweating excessively if you’re sweating when your body does not need to cool down, according to the NHS.

This is referred to as hyperhidrosis.

Primary hyperhidrosis is a condition where excessive sweating occurs without an underlying medical cause, Kenny said.

What other body parts can tell you about your health

From your belly button to your bum or mouth - what different body parts could be telling you about your health:

  • Everything you need to know about your bum – from whether to wipe or wash and how it tells the different between gas and solids

Meanwhile, what’s known as secondary hyperhidrosis can be a side effect of medical conditions such as thyroid problems, diabetes, infections, or menopause.

Taking some medications could also cause you to sweat more than usual.

This includes some selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and antidepressants, as well as painkillers like ibuprofen or aspirin.

Finally, being stressed or anxious can also make you sweat more than you’re used to.

4. General body odour

Your diet can influence your overall bodily aroma, especially foods like garlic, onions and certain spices.

Hormonal fluctuations can also play a role.

You may be particularly prone to hormonal changes at certain points in your life, such as during puberty and menopause, as well as during menstruation.

Medical conditions like diabetes, liver disease, and kidney disease may affect how you smell, Kenny added.

Meanwhile, bacterial or fungal infections can cause localised odours, he added.

When should I worry about body odour?

“A sudden, unexplained change in body odour could indicate an underlying health issue,” Kenny warned.

“A fruity or sweet smell could be a sign of diabetic ketoacidosis, which requires immediate medical attention, and an ammonia or bleach-like smell could indicate liver or kidney problems.

“A fishy smell could be a sign of a bacterial infection.”

Kenny went on: “When it comes to a persistent foul odour, if good hygiene practices don’t resolve the issue, it could be due to an infection or other medical condition.

“If you notice excessive sweating along with a change in odour, it could be due to hyperhidrosis or a thyroid issue.”

How many people have died in Lake Lanier and why is it so dangerous?

LAKE Lanier is a notoriously deadly, man-made reservoir situated in northern Georgia.

But who are the victims who’ve died in the large area of water and why is Lake Lanier so dangerous?

How many people have died in Lake Lanier?

Since its construction in 1956, it’s believed that over 200 deaths have occurred at Lake Lanier, which is home to 12 million yearly visitors.

While many have drowned, others have died in boat fires, accidentally driven into the lake, or gone missing.

Diver Buck Buchanon even told local media that he had felt body parts in the lake while diving.

The disproportionate number of deaths has led people to believe the lake is haunted by the “Lady of the Lake”, the ghost of a woman who drowned there in 1958 – Delia Mae Parker Young.

Delia Mae Parker Young and Susie Roberts

In 1959, a fisherman discovered a female body floating in Lake Lanier, but authorities were unable to identify the corpse due to decomposition.

Three decades later, in 1990, construction workers spotted a blue Ford under the water while repairing a bridge over the lake.

Inside the vehicle were the bones of another woman – identified by her car registration as Susie Roberts.

Authorities concluded that Roberts, 37, and the first woman – her friend Delia Mae Parker Young, 23 – had died after accidentally driving off the bridge in 1958.

Thomas Milner

Thomas Milner, 24, died in July 2023 when he was electrocuted after jumping from his family dock into the water.

A neighbor rushed in to help, but experienced a “burning sensation” recognizable as electric shock.

The neighbor swam ashore and turned off the power box near the dock, before recovering Milner from the water, who later died in hospital.

Matthew Mayo

Matthew Mayo, 73, from Gainsville, Florida, was bass fishing with his wife on Lake Lanier in May 2024 when he attempted to sit down on a seat that was not bolted to the base of the boat.

He fell into the lake and never resurfaced.

Game wardens located his body a short time after, but were not able to save Mayo.

Why is Lake Lanier so dangerous?

It’s believed that many swimmers have become snagged on what lies beneath Lake Lanier – the ruins of the old town of Oscarville.

The predominantly black residents of Oscarville were displaced from their homes during the 1910s, after a black man was falsely accused of murdering a white woman in the nearby woods.

This left Oscarville a ghost town, and when authorities decided to build a reservoir in the 1950s, they flooded the remnants of Oscarville – including old businesses and homes.

As well as the hazardous Oscarville ruins, it also appears that many drivers have lost control of their cars when driving over the many bridges that cross Lake Lanier.
