A MUM of four has showcased her 10p hack for ageing backwards since ditching expensive skincare.
Thuy Improta, who is in her thirties, has transformed her complexion from “irritated and dry” to “soft” and supple.
In fact, she says that her DIY solution means she no longer has to wear foundation as it gives her such an even skin tone.
“I used to use expensive skincare products that left my skin irritated and dried,” she penned on Instagram.
“However, one day while travelling, I forgot my skincare products and didn’t use anything for a week.
“Surprisingly, my skin improved a lot.
“That’s when I realised that those products were actually causing my skin breakouts.
“Since then, I have been creating my own skincare products, such as tallow cream, skin serum and rice water.”
Rice water is her new hero product – and Thuy says it’s her “favourite” homemade concoction.
The self-styled “busy mum” ferments rice in water by letting the grains soak until the water starts to appear cloudy as the nutrients from the rice leach into it.
Then, she leaves it to ferment for a few days before freezing it.
The frozen rice water cubes are what she rubs on her face daily to give her a glowing complexion that requires no make-up to look flawless.
Thuy shared her hack on Instagram in a recent viral video as she “refuses to gate keep the skincare secret”.
Fermented rice water is packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids AND antioxidants – including vitamins B, C and E – which nourish the skin.
As for evening out skin tone, the fermentation process enhances the rice water’s ability to lighten dark spots and banish hyperpigmentation.
This is due to the presence of enzymes and other active compounds.
Fermented rice water has gained popularity in skincare for its cheap - but wildly effective - benefits.
Furthermore, the cooling and anti-inflammatory properties of fermented rice water can help calm irritated or sensitive skin.
