The Sun revealed last month that Pete and Love Island‘s Maura struck up a romance when they were spotted smooching at Broadwick Soho Hotel.

But now it appears the ex Towie star is still on the hunt for love.

Pete was spotted on the app this week with his occupation listed as ‘all sorts’.

He has a string of dapper looking snaps including a picture of him in a black suit and tie at a glitzy event.

The podcast host set his current home to Essex and linked his official Instagram account to the profile.

A few weeks ago Pete was spotted looking cosy with Irish beauty Maura, 33.

An onlooker told The Sun that Pete joined Maura at the posh five star hotel on Saturday evening where she had been having lunch with friends.

They said: “Maura had been sitting on the terrace with friends for an hour before Pete arrived.

“After they’d sat there for a while Maura went in for a long kiss with Pete. It wasn’t the kind of kiss you’d give a friend, it was very passionate.

“Maura and Pete seemed to be really into each other and kept looking into each other’s eyes before kissing again a number of times.

“When it got dark they moved into the hotel’s Flute bar and Pete sat with his arm around Maura all evening.

“They were all over each other. They looked totally in love and weren’t trying to hide it from anyone.”

It comes after Maura split from her Hollywood star boyfriend Bobby Holland Hanton in March after a whirlwind romance.

The Sun revealed a sweet clip of when Pete first wooed Maura, nearly ONE year ago on glamorous night out at the Pride of Britain awards.

They were last spotted together in public at the TV Bafta awards in May.

But last week Love Island star Faye Winter, who clashed with Maura last year at the NTAs, was seen getting close to Pete at Vicky Pattison and Ercan Ramadan‘s wedding.

Faye and Pete were seen cuddling up with Pete giving her a bear hug from behind.

In another, he is seen getting down on one knee in a mock proposal.

Sources at the time told OK!: “Faye and Pete looked very cosy as they chatted at the after party.

“Pete in particular had his hands all over Faye, which is no surprise as she had all eyes on her and looked incredible on the night.”

Quality Street lovers are only just realising Nestle has made a permanent change to the purple one – and are fuming

QUALITY Street lovers are just realising that Nestle has made a permanent change to the beloved purple one – and some are fuming.

The purple sweet has long been a fan favourite with its soft caramel and hazelnut centre.

Nestle has made a big change to two of its most popular Quality Street chocolates[/caption]

But, as tubs of Quality Street return to the supermarkets ahead of the festive season fans are realising a temporary change has been made permanent.

Last year Quality Street changed the shape of two of its iconic flavours – the purple one and orange crunch.

Both chocolates were changed to take the shape of the caramel swirl – with the purple one’s previous domed oval shape scrapped.

As tubs arrive back in stores customers have realised the shape change has now been made permanent.

And the move has proved controversial.

In a comment titled ‘what has happened to my beloved Quality Street’ one fan said: “First they have replaced the shiny wrappers with a dull as dishwasher paper wrapper and now the purple one has changed to a small ROUND thing. TERRIBLE. Nestle have gone too far this time.”

Another added on Facebook: “Looking forward to a Quality Street ‘the purple one’. What has happened to the size?”

A third said: “Out with the new and bring back the old. Or I buy any other nostalgic treats still on sale.”

While some remain unconvinced by the changes, first introduced in 2023, others still hold on to their affection for the festive favourites.

One said: “Always reliable and perfect for a Christmas gift. Good quality chocolate and tasty fillings.”

Another added: “Perfect Xmas gift! Best value for money.”

At the time the change was made permanent Jemma Handley, Senior Brand Manager for Quality Street, said:  “After a successful trial at Christmas, we’ll be permanently rolling out new shapes for two of our much-loved sweets.

“We know how iconic Quality Street sweets are and we have taken great care and attention to make sure that it is the same great-tasting the purple one and orange crunch that people know and love in their iconic coloured wrappers.”

Quality Street chocolates have gone through a series of changes in recent years, including changing to paper wrappers.

Last year shoppers also saw the chocolatier bring back its coffee creme flavour, which made a welcome return ahead of Christmas.

John Lewis also brought back its pick ‘n’ mix stands last Christmas to the delight of Christmas shoppers, who could pack tubs with their favourites.

Plus, Nestle launched a new chocolate bar combining two iconic Quality Street flavours – the Purple One and the Green Triangle.

How to save money on chocolate

WE all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don't have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…

Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed on flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for supermarket’s own brand bars.

Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.

Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.

Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.

They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.

Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.

So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Inside makeshift mpox isolation wards where hundreds of patients lie on dirt floors amid life-threatening drug shortages

IN a crowded emergency mpox isolation ward in eastern Congo, dozens of sick patients lie on thin mattresses on the hard dirt floor.

Hospital staff already stretched thin, are struggling with severe drug shortages to treat the virus and a lack of space to look after the surge in patients.

Congolese health workers are desperately waiting for vaccines to arrive[/caption]

Desperate and uncertain, helpless mothers have resorted to popping their babies’ painful blisters and creating makeshift remedies from salt and lemon.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has become the epicenter of an mutant mpox outbreak, which the World Health Organisation (WHO) recently declared a global public health emergency.

The new strain, called clade 1b is thought to be more dangerous than it’s predecessor clade 2 – which spread internationally in 2022.

There were 19,710 suspected cases of the new clade reported since the start of the year in Congo by August 31, according to the health ministry.

Of those, 5,041 were confirmed and 655 were fatal.

In response to the spread of the new bug, vaccines are expected to arrive into the country within days to combat the new mutant strain.

However, at the hospital complex in the town of Kavumu, where 900 unwell patients have been admitted over the past three months, health workers are in urgent need of additional support.

“We run out of medicine every day,” head doctor Musole Mulamba Muva, told Reuters.

“There are many challenges we struggle to overcome with our local means,” he said.

Last week, 135 patients, both children and adults, were crowded into the mpox ward.

Inside, they are seen squeezed between three large plastic tents set up on damp earth without any floor covering.

Relatives of sick patients, who typically provide most of the meals at places like Kavumu Hospital, have been banned from visiting the mpox ward to prevent the risk of contamination.

“We do not have anything to eat,” said Nzigire Lukangira, the 32-year-old mother of a hospitalised toddler.

“When we ask for something to lower our children’s temperature, they do not give us anything,” she told the news site, while pouring honey into her daughter’s mouth.

Mpox causes flu-like symptoms and pus-filled lesions and, while usually mild, it can kill.

It is spread through close contact with infected animals or people.

The disease has ravaged the Congo and has since been found in Europe[/caption]

Children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems are all at higher risk of complications.

Although there are no specific treatment for mpox, but there are ways to help people recover and manage symptom which include antiviral medicines and painkillers.

DESPERATE MEASURES

Like other mothers in the Kavumu mpox ward, Nzigire had started making traditional remedies to ease her baby’s pain.

They dipped their fingers in potassium bicarbonate or salty lemon juice and popped their children’s blisters.

Adult patients did the same to themselves.

Most cases came from the town itself and surrounding villages. Two other makeshift mpox wards have been set up in the area.

The currently available vaccine is a repurposed version of the smallpox vaccine, as the viruses are closely related.

It can be administered either before exposure to the virus or after contact has occurred.

Should we be worried?

Dr Jonas Albarnaz, a research fellow specialising in pox viruses at The Pirbright Institute, said:

“This news of a case of clade 1 mpox in Sweden is concerning for two main reasons.

“First, this is the first clade 1 mpox virus case outside Africa. This indicates that the extent of the international spread of clade 1 outbreak in DRC might be larger than we knew yesterday.

“And second, clade 1 mpox virus is associated with a more severe disease and higher mortality rates than the clade 2 virus responsible for the international mpox outbreak in 2022.

“This is hard to predict whether we will see further cases of clade 1 mpox outside of Africa, but this case in Sweden is a warning call for public health authorities to be vigilant and implement robust surveillance and contact-tracing strategies to detect possible new cases early on.

“It’s also critical to determine what is the link between this clade 1 mpox virus detected in Sweden and the ongoing outbreak in DCR.”

The jab was credited for helping put an end to the 2022 outbreak.

However, experts are uncertain whether the same vaccine will be effective against the new strain.

It hasn’t been tested against the more potent version of the bug, which has spread across Africa and more recently, Sweden and Thailand.

While no cases have yet been confirmed in the UK, experts suspect the new variant is already in Britain.

Due to how long it takes for symptoms to emerge, they believe we could see cases within the next two weeks.

However, Europe is unlikely to see as many deaths as central Africa due to better access to quality healthcare, they said.
