My grandmas have been using the same beauty products for decades – they stand the test of time & don’t break the bank

GRANDMA has some tricks up her sleeve to stay looking good without spending an arm and a leg.

One woman shared her grandmother’s old school methods for staying fabulous.

Redditor Sewerbeauty dished the details, with some surprising hacks that stood the test of time.

Unlike luxury skincare products with a shocking price tag, grandma’s are a bit more down-to-Earth.

“My hidden gems/holy grails are the simple but effective products grandmas have been using for decades,” Sewerbeauty said.

“They stand the test of time and don’t break the bank.”

IF IT’S NOT BROKEN, DON’T FIX IT

Sewerbeauty pointed out that her grandma’s recommendations are easily accessible.

“Things like Nivea Creme, face tape, Dove Beauty Bars, hair-oiling, dry brushing, et cetera,” she said.

Nivea Creme is sold for $9.95 on Amazon and can be used on most parts of the body.

Face-taping is a method to slow down aging by preventing expression lines before they start.

There are a variety of tapes available and they are typically applied before going to bed.

Dove Beauty Bars are sold for $13.55 for a pack of 14 on Amazon.

Sewerbeauty said that she uses the original bar, but sometimes uses the Shea Butter and Warm Vanilla variety on her body for the scent.

Hair-oiling finds its roots in ancient medicine, such as Ayurveda, to promote longer locks.

Finally, dry brushing is practiced to promote lymphatic drainage for a leaner look.

“I trust my grandma and my own intuition more than any amount of marketing,” Sewerbeauty added.

“Not engaging with every single trend has saved me some serious bank and keeps me feeling chic and classic.”

Several other Redditors gave their thoughts on Sewerbeauty’s approach to self care.

“Yep, beauty tips that ancestors did,” one wrote.

“Threading, hair oiling, steaming, wrapping hair, [and] facials, are all affordable and luxurious.”

“I’ll add Pond’s cold cream to that, [I] finally listened to my grandma and now I use it whenever I have makeup on,” another added.

Pond’s Cream can be found at Target and is sold for $7.99.

My patio hadn’t been cleaned for 25 years – I transformed it for £50 and people can’t believe the difference

A GREEN-fingered Brit has showcased how transformed his 25-year-old patio for just £50.

According to Garry Hartgrove, his outdoor slabs hadn’t been cleaned for a quarter of a century and were in dire need of a “facelift”.

He pulled off an amazing transformation for just £50[/caption]

He shared his impressive transformation – which is now a pattern of grey slabs in varying darknesses – on Facebook group Gardening On A Budget Official.

“I wanted the finished job to suit the character of the old bungalow and not to look too new,” the DIY whizz wrote.

He found all of the information for his project – which has been called “amazing” by fellow green-fingered Brits – through some clever Google searches

The entire project cost approximately £50, with some parts of it only taking 30 seconds to execute.

To start, Garry jet washed the whole patio – which is home to his outdoor dining set and a number of plant pots.

Then, he repaired any nicks on the slabs with a mix of soft and sharp sand, cement and water.

“Before painting, slabs must be completely dry… as in, no rain for at least a couple of days,” Garry instructed.

“Use only the best brand of paint.

Dulux, Sandtex – these allow slabs to ‘breathe’ and will let trapped moisture escape, but keep rain out.

“I used masonry paint.”

His first coat of paint was a light grey diluted with 10% water that soaked into the concrete.

He covered all of the slabs, including joints, with this paint.

The second coat of paint was undiluted and, thanks to the first coat, stuck to the slabs “much better”.

Garry opted to have some of his slabs darker than others, which he achieved through diluted black masonry paint.

Cleaning hacks for outside

IF you want to get your garden summer ready, you'll need to check this out.

ALGAE: If your fence is covered in stubborn algae, Mrs Hinch fans swore by white vinegar to get it looking brand new.

MOSS: If moss is causing you problems, soda crystals will do just the trick.

PATIO: IF your patio slabs have seen better days, bleach could be just the thing for you.

“Colour the slabs with black masonry paint with a water ratio of approximately 1/15, so it’s like black water,” he penned.

“This is best applied with a small washing-up sponge.

“Drag the paint over the slab, avoiding joints.”

He described this process as “very easy” and claimed that it only takes 30 seconds per slap.

You can add a second coat to make it darker, or even a third if you’re feeling adventurous.

According to Garry, he still hasn’t decided if he’s going to put any sealant over his DIY paint job.

“As of yet, I have not,” he wrote.

“I’m thinking that if colours do eventually fade, I can fairly quickly re-colour them.

“If sealed, I won’t be able to – although sealing will help prevent fading.

“I’m undecided.”

Garry was inundated with people telling him how “amazing” his DIY job had turned out, with many people beaming: “What a transformation.

‘So unfair!’ moan Oasis fans as thousands miss out on pre-sale tickets for reunion tour – but others get TOO MANY codes

OASIS fans have been left moaning after thousands missed out on pre-sale tickets for the band’s reunion tour – while others received too many codes.

Liam, 51, and Noel Gallagher, 57, devotees shared their fury on social media today when the early access ticketing scheme went awry.

Oasis fans have been left moaning after thousands missed out on pre-sale tour tickets[/caption]

It was particularly frustrating for them because they had only been allowed to use one code per email address, meaning many went to waste.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one raged: “WE DESERVE IT SO MUCH AND IT WAS SO UNFAIR SOME PEOPLE GOT TWO CODES AND THEY’RE NOT EVEN GETTING TICKETS.”

Someone else asked: “Anyone else got two @oasis presale codes emailed to them? I don’t know what one to use aaaaaaahhhhhhh.”

Another wrote: “has anyone else been sent 2 codes for the presale? just checked and ive been sent 2 different codes about 5 minutes apart from eachother.”

One more concluded: “My twitter is full of people saying they’ve got two codes & I didn’t even get one.”

The lucky ones who have received a code will be able to buy tickets from 7pm tonight and skip tomorrow’s queue.

But the indie band have urged fans to NOT sell their unique codes to other people.

They shared a message on their Instagram Story, which read: “All ticket ballot codes have now been sent out to fans.

“Please do not buy a code or transfer them to someone else.

“Codes only work with the registered email address.

“If you didn’t get a code to access the pre-sale. You can join the general sale tomorrow morning.”

An e-mail, sent out at 12pm on Friday, read: “Oasis Live ’25 UK Pre-Sale Ballot Access. You have been selected in the Oasis Live ’25 Ticket Ballot to access the pre-sale!

“Here is your unique code to access the UK pre-sale, which takes place between 7pm and 10pm BST tonight, Friday 30th August.”

Delighted Oasis fans took to social media to share their delight, as one wrote: “Oasis Live ’25 UK Pre-Sale Ballot Access. You have been selected in the Oasis Live ’25 Ticket Ballot to access the pre-sale!

“Here is your unique code to access the UK pre-sale, which takes place between 7pm and 10pm BST tonight, Friday 30th August.”

Another said: “Oasis pre-sale code in the bank, come on, halfway there now.”

Tonight’s pre-sale will run from 7pm till 10pm, and fans can use their unique code to gain access during this.

A general sale then follows on tomorrow morning at 8am for the Dublin shows and 9am for the UK shows.

The e-mail continued to say: “You MUST have a Ticketmaster account registered with this email address (the one you used for the Ticket Ballot) and be signed in to access the pre-sale.

“I’m going to the South of France for a week and then I’m going to Ibiza for a week and then I’m back in London for a week and then I’m going to Greece for a couple of weeks and then maybe off to LA to see some friends.

“I won’t bring my guitar on holiday because I’m staying with friends, so that would be rude.

“I don’t bring my guitar on holiday, it’s nice to get away from it for a while.”

Mexico erupts into all-out war as El Chapo’s cartel launches assault on ARMY over rumour his son ‘Chapito’ was arrested

CHAOS has broken out in the infamous Mexican state of Sinaloa after rumours swirled that drug lord El Chapo’s son “Chapito” was captured.

Sinaloa Cartel members took on the army, blocking roads and highways as buses and trucks erupted into flames amid the fighting on Thursday.

At least 10 bodies were discovered by motorists on a road in northwestern Mexico a day after a gang tied to the sons of Joaquín 'El Chapo' Guzmán tried to overtake a turf controlled by one of the drug lords featured in Netflix's Narco: Mexico series.

The shocking find occurred Saturday as several drivers traveled along a stretch of a road in the state of Sonora that connects the cities of Caborca and Sonoyta - roughly 90 miles south of the United States border.

Local news outlets report that the 10 individuals were kidnapped Friday as part of an intense attack launched by Los Salazar in the municipality of Caborca. El Chapo Guzman

Vehicles burn in what appear attempts to block the authorities

Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, one of El Chapo‘s sons, was thought to have been arrested before Mexico’s Ministry of National Defense said he remained at large, local reports said.

But violence flared in Sinaloan capital Culiacan as unfounded whispers of his capture spread.

The city had already been troubled by tension following the arrests of kingpin Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and Joaquin Gozman Lopez – one of El Chapo’s other sons – in July.

The state has long been a stronghold of El Chapo, who is currently behind bars in the US, and his sons.

Sinaloan authorities said a military patrol on the outskirts of the city was attacked by gunmen while roadblocks – known as narco-blockades – were put in place.

They are commonly used by cartels to block cops or troops from rushing to a scene.

Sinaloa cops said on social media: “We are aware that military personnel suffered an attack.

“We are also aware that roads have been blocked with vehicles.”

State Governor Rubén Rocha confirmed two vehicles were set ablaze “with the aim of blocking authorities”.

Shocking footage has since swirled on social media.

One clip showed a cloud of black smoke billowing above a main road.

More footage showed a bus ablaze in illustration of a narco-blockade.

Other vision shows Mexican cops in a firefight as they travel down a road.

There was never official confirmation of Ivan’s arrest, but Sinaloa has previously been cast into chaos following attempted and successful captures of high-profile cartel leaders.

In 2019, a fierce conflict dubbed The Battle of Culiacán erupted as authorities went after Ivan’s half-brother Ovidio Guzman Lopez.

A convoy of cops and soldiers stormed Ovidio’s home before hundreds of cartel members began causing chaos across the city, with similar scenes of smoke billowing from burning vehicles.

Ovidio had to be released after the cartel captured eight Mexican troops as hostages.

But he was captured again in 2023 and sent to the US.

Los Chapitos

El Chapo has a lot of sons.

The official count is 15, but up to 24 people are rumoured to be his offspring.

Most of them aren’t in the cartel, but these are the ones who have been involved in one the world’s most infamous operations.

Iván ArchivaldoIvan

Ivan is El Chapo’s oldest son at 39 and a key figure in Los Chapitos.

He is thought to be leading the battle in wrestling control from former Sinaloa Cartel leaders, some of whom are now the Chapitos’ rivals.

He was briefly taken hostage along with his brother Jesus by the rival Jalisco New Generation cartel while their dad was still running the show from prison in 2016.

Jesús Alfredo Guzmán

Jesus, 37, is known as Alfredo or “Alfredillo,” is on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s most wanted list, the only one of Chapo’s kids to have that distinction.

He is thought to be running part of the cartel with his brother Ivan.

Alfredo’s become known for his lavish lifestyle and likes to party, something he he taunts the authorities with.

Ovidio Guzmán López

Nicknamed “El Ratón” (the mouse), Ovidio and Ivan have been deemed key lieutenants in the Sinaloa cartel by the US Treasury Department.

An arrest attempt in Culiacán in 2019 ended in violence when the cartel opened fire on authorities in the streets and the Mexican government deemed the threat of violence to civilians too high.

The 2023 attempt, while resulting in another shootout, saw him extradited to the US where he awaits trial.

Joaquin Guzman Lopez

Joaquín has kept a relatively low profile in comparison to his other brothers but, in February 2019, the US Justice Department indicted him along with Ovidio for conspiring to traffic cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana into the United States.

He was arrested in July, alongside El Mayo.

He remains behind bars there along with Joaquín and their infamous father.

The US is offering a massive $10million (£7.6m) reward for information that could help them hunt Ivan down.

Joaquín was taken into US custody after being arrested alongside El Mayo at the Santa Teresa International Jetport in Texas on July 25.

El Mayo, 76, led the cartel after the capture of El Chapo.

The former had somehow managed to evade the American authorities despite a bounty being placed on his head ever since the 1990s.

He was among the most powerful drug traffickers in Mexico, accused of commanding a massive cocaine and fentanyl trafficking operation that moves narcotics into the United States, Europe, and elsewhere.

But Joaquin is believed to have lured El Mayo to his arrest in a stunning act of betrayal.

The drug veteran thought he was going to check out real estate in Mexico before the plane powered onto the US instead, it was reported.

Joaquin was said to be seeking revenge after blaming El Mayo for his father’s blockbuster arrest in 2019.

Who is El Chapo?

El Chapo is the former chief of the Sinoloa Cartel, one of the most infamous the world has ever seen.

He was considered the most powerful drug trafficker across the globe before he was extradited to the US in 2017 and sentenced to life in prison.

Born in Sinaloa in 1957, he launched a career in narcotics moving drugs through the state and into the US by the 1970s.

He rose up the ranks to run logistics for Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo, a kingpin of the 1980s.

Following Felix’s arrest, El Chapo launched his own cartel, which he developed into an empire.

He became renowned for using long tunnels to transport drugs into the US, including huge amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and heroin.

He was captured and escaped jail multiple times over two-and-a-half decades, but is now behind bars at the “supermax” ADX Florence prison in Colorado.
