Jeremy Clarkson lifts the lid on which of his Grand Tour co-stars won’t be coming to visit his new £1m pub

THE Grand Tour star opened his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, but will his co-stars visit?

Hundreds of people lined up on Friday as the TV star opened his pub in Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire, to the public for the first time.

Jeremy Clarkson, 64, took over the establishment that was known as The Windmill, which he bought for just under £1 million earlier this year.

Over the past few months, TV personality has been working hard to get the neglected Cotswolds establishment ready to reopen.

Fans got a glimpse inside Jeremy’s pub earlier this year when he temporarily opened it up for the final of the Euros as England faced off against Spain. But it closed again after the event.

Jeremey previously stated that his new pub won’t officially open to the public until 2025, with the exception of a private wedding which is booked at the venue later this year.

However, plans were ready earlier than expected as the pub opened for the public on Friday.

Jeremy hopes The Farmer’s Dog will be a cornerstone of the local communities as he envisions a “fun” and homely pub featuring bar billiards, darts, and a garden, as well as a place where he can enjoy a Sunday meal with his granddaughter.

He also hopes to incorporate bar games, while banning noisy TVs in the establishment.

To achieve this, the pub underwent a major renovation, including adding a second bar upstairs.

However, Jeremy thinks his Top Gear co-star James May will not visit his new pub, “but Richard (Hammond) will”.

From 2016, the trio began their Prime Video series, The Grand Tour, which recently finished filming.

Reflecting on the final Grand Tour, Jeremy said: “I think it was emotional, but the weird thing is… who am I saying goodbye to because we use exactly the same crews and producers on the farm show as we do on the cars show?

“So I basically said, ‘well, that’s it everyone, see you Monday on the farm’.”

Asked if he will miss James and Richard, he said: “I can see them whenever I want.”

Considering whether they might make a trip to his pub, he said: “James probably won’t, but Richard will.

The Grand Tour cast

Meet the cast of the hit Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour. With a total of five series, Jeremy Clarkson is joined by Richard Hammond and James May as they travel across the world to meet different automobile manufacturers and drive cars made by them.

Jeremy Clarkson – He is best known for the motoring programmes Top Gear and The Grand Tour. He was born in 1960 in the Yorkshire town of Doncaster in the North of England, an area renowned for its loud shouting and rampant exaggeration.

James May – His oeuvre includes a record for the world’s longest train set, building a real house from Lego, propelling children’s action figures to beyond the speed of sound, a revival of the cult of duelling, the creation of a mechanical email system, and a wholesale rethink of the pet funeral business.

Richard Hammond – The Birmingham-born started his career in local radio before getting a break on a cable TV car show where he was able to hone his presenting skills.

Andy Wilman – is the creator and executive producer on the show. He is also a producer on Clarkson’s Farm.

Abbie Eaton – is a qualified racing instructor and a performance driving coach. She starred as the test driver for the second and third series of The Grand Tour. James May stated: “she was the fastest and the best” when a large number of drivers were tested for the show.

Mike Skinner – The American is a former NASCAR racer who realised he was good at brawling and driving in cowboy boots. He turned to NASCAR racing where he won the 1995 SuperTruck series and the 1997 Winston Cup Series rookie of the year.

“I talked to Richard only yesterday. We’re mates and we’ll still see them.

“We couldn’t possibly have imagined we’d be together 22 years when we started out.

“And so it’s a wrench, thinking, ‘God, we’re never going to do that again’.

“But by the same token, I don’t have to go through Terminal 5 (of Heathrow airport) quite so often.”

Jeremy has said he plans to sell his own Hawkstone lager as well as produce reared on his nearby farm at the pub.

Fans have taken to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their first experiences visiting Jeremy’s new pub, The Farmer’s Dog.

One said: “I visited @JeremyClarkson’s new pub with @Jordyn_Mxtn this weekend. I grabbed a pint of @RealHawkstone and had a brilliant time out in the #Oxfordshire countryside. Would recommend.”

Another added: “Just tried our new local pub @thefarmerdogpub from @JeremyClarkson. Long queue to get in but worth it. Service ultra quick once seated, food is delicious and all staff very welcoming.

“View on the country side is amazing from the terrace. Strongly recommend #localpub”

A third wrote: “Great day at The Farmer’s Dog Pub. And got to meet the man himself @JeremyClarkson and the Cider was great.”

The Grand Tour is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

‘Feeble’ Starmer can replace Thatcher portrait with a picture of ME, Priti Patel says at her Tory leadership launch

DAME Priti Patel has said Sir Keir Starmer can replace a portrait of Margaret Thatcher in the study at No10 with a picture of “me”.

The MP for Witham launched her Conservative leadership campaign in London today promising to get the party “back to winning ways”.

And at the end of her speech she addressed reports that Sir Keir had an “unsettling” portrait of Thatcher removed from the study at No10.

Dame Priti pointed to an image of herself and declared: “If Keir Starmer wants a portrait to replace Margaret Thatcher he can always have this one.”

The PM asked for it to be taken down soon after moving in, according to his biographer.

Tom Baldwin said he asked Sir Keir if he would “get rid of it” as they sat together in what is unofficially known as the Thatcher Room.

He said the PM then nodded, agreeing with Baldwin that the likeness was “a bit unsettling with her staring down”.

The portrait, painted by royal artist Richard Stone, was commissioned by Gordon Brown and unveiled to the Iron Lady at a reception in 2009.

In a speech on Friday, Dame Priti also said: “The Conservative and Unionist Party is the greatest political party in the world, and I’m proud to stand here today for its leadership.

“Under my leadership, I will bring our party experience and strength, and I will get us back to winning ways.”

She added: “I have heard loud and clear what the British people have had to say, and while we will reflect and learn on the lessons, under my leadership our party will be firmly focused on the future.

“So today, eight weeks on, our attitude will change, and we will draw a line in the sand because it’s time to move on and move forward.

“I’m an optimist with clear goals, and I will revive our party so that we can provide the leadership that our great country needs, because conservativism has not failed.

“Our values and our principles remain as true as ever, and they are still shared by the majority of the public.”

She also denounced Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s No 10 speech earlier this week as “one of the most feeble, pitiful and dishonest speeches you will ever hear”.

Dame Priti continued: “He was feeble in his claim to say that he was tough with the trade unions in pay negotiations.

“That was after he immediately rolled over to appease his paymasters at the expense of the British taxpayer.

“He was pitiful to claim that he is locking up criminals after spending years in Parliament voting against tougher prison sentences for violent criminals and sex offenders, and campaigning to block the deportation of dangerous foreign national offenders.

“He was completely dishonest with his complaints and his claims about the British economy that he has inherited, which were clearly made to justify his nasty financial assault on the very people who deserve dignity in their retirement.”

She added: “All we have seen over the last 56 days is a Labour Government of self-service, politics without principle.”

Cleaning pro reveals savvy trick which means you NEVER have to iron the kids school uniform again – it’s so simple

AS the new school year kicks off, all parents know that school uniforms never stay pristine for very long.

But there are ways to ensure your kids look the part, even without ironing their uniform.

A cleaning professional has revealed her top tips to help get the kids ready for school[/caption]

From lunchtime spills to art class accidents, stains are inevitable in school life.

Luckily, experts have revealed some simple and effective tips to keep those uniforms looking fresh and clean.

Here, Gwil Snook, laundry expert at AO.com, has revealed tips for meaning you never have to iron your kids school uniform again.

Making a mark

Whether they’re from paint or food, it’s essential to treat stains as quickly as possible.

You can either use a dedicated stain remover or a mixture of water and bicarbonate of soda before washing.

Keep it cool

Washing your items at a cooler temperature prevents colours from bleeding and keeps fabrics from shrinking.

It’s also worth avoiding high-speed spin cycles to protect delicate materials like cardigans.

Fasten up

Before washing, always fasten buttons and zips to prevent snagging on other items or damage during the cycle.

Hanging on in there

Hang school uniforms up as soon as they come out of the washing machine, giving them a good shake to smooth out the items before you place them on the hanger.

This will prevent stubborn creases from setting in. For added wrinkle prevention, look for a washing machine with an anti-crease program.

Spritz it up

Add one part water to one part fabric softener to make your own.

Mix well and spray lightly onto clothes to help relax the fabric so wrinkles simply drop out once you hang them up.

Don’t pack it in

Store uniforms in a wardrobe that isn’t overcrowded.

Tightly packed clothing doesn’t have room to breathe, leading to creases.

Ensure there’s enough space between items to keep them looking neat.

Proper dampener

When using a tumble dryer, try adding a damp cloth during the last 10 minutes of the cycle.

This softens the fabric and helps loosen any remaining wrinkles.

Another trick is to toss in a tennis ball, which helps clothes dry faster and reduces wrinkling by moving air around the dryer.

Steaming

Handheld steamers are an affordable and space-saving option for removing creases.

If you don’t have one, simply hang the items in the bathroom while taking a hot shower.

The steam will help release the wrinkles.

How can I save money on school uniforms?

IF you are struggling to afford the cost of school uniform or PE kit, you may be able to apply for a grant from your local council - but the criteria vary from council to council.

This is usually in the form of a one-off payment paid directly into your bank account. Some councils will reimburse payments made to approved retailers.

You can ask your local council what help is available and when you need to apply.

If you can’t get targeted help from your council, there are other options to get cheap uniform.

Speak to your school to see if they can offer you some clothing.

Some charities offer help to families in need too. Charity Turn2Us has a free grants search tool on its website which you can use to find out what help is available to you.

Charity shops can also be a good place to find cheap school uniform.

Bagging area

For smaller or delicate items like socks or ties, use mesh laundry bags.

These help to keep them together and prevent them from getting lost or tangled during the wash, making the process smoother and more efficient.

And in emergencies…

Finally, keep an emergency stain removal pen in your laundry room or bag.

These handy tools are perfect for treating stains on the go, ensuring that even the most unexpected spills are taken care of right away.

Man Utd sealed Europa League qualification by winning the FA Cup last season.

Erik ten Hag’s side beat Manchester City 2-1 in the final at Wembley thanks to goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

United would not have qualified otherwise after finishing eighth in the Premier League table.

The Red Devils played Champions League football last season – but not for long.

They were knocked out at the group stage after securing just four points from six games.

Instead, Bayern Munich and Copenhagen qualified for the knockout stages and Galatasaray dropped down to the Europa League.

Lori Harvey reveals the secret behind her brushed-up brows is a $23 wax that ‘freezes them in place’ all day long

THE understated makeup of the 1990s has had a huge influence on Lori Harvey.

She revealed recreating the signature look of the era involves using a $23 wax to “freeze” her fluffy brows in place.

The 27-year-old has developed her makeup skills while modeling for luxury brands and appearing on the cover of fashion magazines.

She revealed to Allure that it takes her around 10 minutes to do a “90s soft glam” look.

Foundation, contour, and blusher are all applied before she focuses on the eye area.

“My brows are really thick so sometimes I don’t really like to fill them in too much,” she said.

“I’m gonna use Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Freeze and just brush my brows in an upward motion.

“I love this product because it’s literally gonna freeze them in place.

“They’re not going to move all day, just stay nice and brushed up.”

Lori revealed the wax is a staple in her everyday beauty routine and can be worn without any other eyebrow product.

However, Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pen can be used to fill in sparse areas when needed.

“I try to do it in light little flicks so it kind of looks like hair and gives a natural finish,” she said.

BEAUTIFUL BROWS

Over 1,000 Amazon customers have bought Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Freeze in the past month.

According to the brand, the $23 clear wax is suitable for all skin tones and sculpts brows for a “feathered” look.

A dual-ended spatula and spoolie brush tool is sold separately for application.

Anastasia Beverley Hills recommends brushing the wax through the brows in an upward movement while gently pressing down to achieve the best results.

FAN FAVORITE

Delighted customers have given the product a 4.5-star rating out of a possible 5 and penned glowing reviews.

“I am so glad I found this and took a chance,” one person said.

“It’s the absolute best eyebrow wax. I’m a no-makeup makeup girlie and this wax gives me the best fluffy brows.

“Super easy to use and washes right off.”

“I have wild brows, like the kind that make waxers excited to see me,” a third said.

“I’ve been buying this for a few years now and am still so thankful it exists [laughing].

“Bought one for my mom for Mother’s Day this year with a pack of spoolies and she was so excited!!”

I spent £1.5k splashing out on a wedding accessory but made it my side hustle – now I rent it out & make £19k every year

WEDDINGS can be expensive, but one bride and groom found a way to make some cash from one item they purchased for their big day.

Bride Sam shared how she had initially forked out £1,500 buying a wooden cart for her wedding – but she now rakes in £19,000 a year renting it out.

Taking to her @sammschultzz account, she revealed more about her easy side hustle.

She wrote: “Best thing I’ve ever done.

“POV you spend $2,000 (£1,500) on a mobile bar cart from Etsy and rent it out twice a weekend for $250 (£189).

“You make your money back in one month and have an extra $24,000 (£19,000) a year.”

Sam said she started her party rental business a year ago and is triple booked almost every weekend.

To market it, she mainly uses TikTok or Instagram to reach as many customers as possible.

Sam added: “I just provide the cart!

“However, you could totally do a charcuterie business/snack cart business with it.”

Sam delivers the cart to each wedding in a trailer they have, but it also collapses to fit in her husband’s car.

She added: “It folds up pretty well! We store it in our storage unit with other rental items but it would fold up in a garage corner no problem.”

Not only does she rent out the cart for weddings, but she also sells carts she has made for around £2,000 on Etsy on her Thatpartygirlco account.

People were seriously impressed with her side hustle business, particularly as weddings can be so expensive.

One person wrote: “I love it! It would be so fun at a party!”

Another added: “This is actually genius.”

And a third commented: “I need to do this.”

Sam replied: “This is your sign that you should.”

Budget-Friendly Wedding Tips

PLANNING a wedding on a budget doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your dream day. Here are some tips to keep costs down while still creating a memorable celebration:

Set a Budget and Stick to It

  • Determine your total budget early on and allocate funds to different aspects of the wedding.
  • Track all expenses to avoid overspending.

Limit the Guest List

  • Keep your guest list intimate to reduce costs on catering, venue, and other per-person expenses.

Choose an Affordable Venue

  • Consider non-traditional venues like parks, community halls, or a family member’s backyard.
  • Look for venues that allow you to bring your own vendors.

DIY Decorations

  • Create your own centerpieces, bouquets, and other décor items.
  • Use seasonal flowers and simple, elegant designs.

Opt for a Weekday or Off-Season Wedding

  • Venues and vendors often offer discounts for weekday or off-season weddings.

Simplify the Menu

  • Choose a buffet or family-style meal over a plated dinner.
  • Limit the number of courses and opt for affordable, yet delicious options.

Borrow or Rent Attire

  • Borrow wedding attire from friends or family, or rent dresses and suits.
  • Look for sales or consider pre-owned wedding dresses.

Digital Invitations

  • Send digital invitations instead of printed ones to save on printing and postage costs.

Hire a DJ or Create a Playlist

  • Hire a DJ instead of a live band, or create your own playlist for the reception.

Simplify the Cake

  • Opt for a small, simple cake for the ceremonial cutting and serve a sheet cake to guests.

By being mindful of these tips, you can create a beautiful and memorable wedding without breaking the bank. Remember, the focus should be on celebrating your love and commitment, not on how much you spend.

League One side Birmingham make £10m bid for Premier League striker that will shatter division’s transfer record

BIRMINGHAM CITY have launched an ambitious £10million deadline day bid to sign Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.

The 21-year-old was a huge hit with Blues fans when he scored 13 goals while on loan last season.

Birmingham have launched a £10m bid for Fulham striker Jay Stansfield[/caption]

Stansfield added another goal at St Andrews when he scored AGAINST Birmingham for Fulham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

Blues boss Chris Davies is now hoping to smash the League One transfer record by paying more than double the £3.48m he paid for Christophe Klarer earlier in the window.

But according to the Telegraph reporter John Percy, the Cottagers have rejected the £10m bid from Birmingham for the striker.

The striker memorably scored a 95th-minute winner against Plymouth Argyle on his Championship debut for the club.

He then went on to make 47 appearances for Birmingham becoming a popular figure amongst the St Andrews faithful.

If Fulham decide to deal it would take Birmingham’s spending to an eye-watering £24million in this window alone.

The Blues were relegated from the Championship last season after going through five managers including Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney.

And the club’s new American ownership has done some big spending on the players and staff which made dropping into the third tier more heartbreaking.

With Stansfield’s arrival, it seems the spending has not stopped with Birmingham desperate to make it back to the Championship for the first time of asking.

This summer they signed prolific striker Alfie May from Charlton, with the Blues paying £768,000 as an initial fee and a reported £16,000 salary to the player.

Centre-back Klarer arrived from German side Darmstadt, while Lyndon Dykes left Championship side QPR to move to St Andrews for £1 million.

Scott Wright has arrived from Rangers on deadline day, while a series of loan deals have been brokered.

Davies’ side have won two and drawn one of their opening League One games this season.

Former Premier League defender announces retirement in emotional post after failing to recover from horror leg break

FORMER Premier League star Chris Basham has announced his retirement after failing to recover from a horror injury.

The versatile defender, 36, has not kicked a ball since breaking his leg in Sheffield United’s clash with Fulham last October.

Basham’s ankle gave way in a freak movement as he attempted to cross the ball.

And he received emergency treatment from medics, including oxygen, while still on the field.

Basham had hoped to recover in time for the start of United’s new Championship campaign.

However, his ankle has still not fully healed, leading to the expiration of his Blades contract.

And Basham has now called it a day in an emotional social media post.

It read: “This is a post that I think many knew was coming, but it has been easier to accept after the past few months as I still recover from the injury last October at Craven Cottage.

“I would like to thank everyone who has made my career in the game a special one including those that taught me important lessons.

“The highs and lows of football since being a teenager, getting released and then having the drive, along with opportunities, and belief from another club to go again.

FOOTBALL FREE BETS AND SIGN UP DEALS

“Newcastle United give me the pedigree, the coaching and the chance to be able to play with the best players of my year. They gave me the structure and the mindset of being a player.

“They taught me the sacrifices that I would have to make in order to have any chance of a successful career in the game.

“Bolton Wanderers, who nurtured me and gave me the opportunity that I dreamed of from being a young lad. An appearance in the Premier League, and a Premier League goal.

“To be part of a team full of footballing icons, and train along side with, was incredibly surreal, and one in the past that I could only imagine.

“But this experience gave me so much determination, which little did I know at the time would be monumental for my future achievements.

“Blackpool FC, for believing in me to be part of a working culture and team. I was taught the importance of team work at this club.

“The dressing room was filled with hard working lads and staff that had experienced promotions. Everything they did emphasised the importance of working together as a team and becoming a unity.

“Sheffield United, wow, a club that I never expected to play for. A club that I quickly fell in love with and for ten years.

“I found the real me as a footballer here, they inspired me and pushed me as a player which brought on a whole new drive and passion for the game, giving me my best years of football.

“I gave everything to the club and got everything back, from the staff at the club, to the amazing fans that will forever be in my heart and most of all the successes, and the fantastic memories that came with it. Thank you!”
