Boots slashes ‘miracle cream’ anti-ageing beauty essential from £28 to £14

There’s a tip-top deal on an anti-ageing eye cream on the Boots website right now – and it’s one that shoppers absolutely love.

The RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream is on sale at Boots for under £14.

a tube of roc line smoothing eye cream next to its box
Boots has reduced the cost of the much-loved eye cream from RoC by 50%

RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing
Eye Cream, £13.99 (was £27.99)

RoC’s line of skincare has garnered high praise for creating high quality, potent and effective anti-ageing products – but they don’t come cheap.

The RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream has been slasjed to half-price in the Boots sale: it’s fallen from £27.99 to £13.99.

In fact, Boots has launched numerous beauty deals on the brand.

Currently, the Boots sale sees select RoC skincare reduced to half-price, as well as select skincare items more broadly.

While this eye cream falls into both offers, that doesn’t mean double discount on the item.

The RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Eye Cream may sound scary to some, as Retinol is a potent active ingredient in skincare products, and applying close to the eyes may be alarming.

But don’t fret: the RoC experts have carefully formulated the product to keep you, and your eyes safe – this has been clinically tested.

The retinol ingredient used is RoC’s signature formula, which is created using a mineral complex that is gentler on sensitive areas.

It has also been formulated with magnesium asparate, which hydrates the skin, as well as zinc gluconate and copper gluconate.

The advanced retinol complex aims to target the main concerns for the eye area, which are puffy eye bags, dark circles under the eye, as well as fine lines and wrinkles.

This popular beauty product works to brighten the eye area, plump the fine lines, while reducing any puffiness for a bright eyed and bushy tailed visage.

Simple apply a few dots on the eye area in the morning and night, as well as the very top of the cheekbone, as experts have claimed this area absorbs nourishing ingredients better and filters into the eye socket above to target those concerns.

Plus, you can extend the cream to the edges of the eye where crows feet tend to sit.

The best technique is gently tapping the product into those areas instead of dragging or pulling the skin, which can be more detrimental and counter productive.

By dabbing the area you are also stimulating blood flow to the eyes to help with circulation.

As this eye cream features retinol it is advised to ease it into your beauty routine, so apply every other day, or less, to begin, and gradually increase to suit your tolerance.

It is often advised not to wear retinol in direct sunlight, and while RoC’s website states you can apply in the morning or evening, I would stress applying sunscreen in the morning, or simply wait for your evening pamper routine.

After clinical studies, RoC has found this eye cream brightens and reduces puffy eyes in just four weeks, while it took 12 weeks to reduce fine lines by half.

Shoppers have shared that a little goes a long way with the RoC Retinol Eye Cream, and in 12 weeks any crows feet has reduced by half.

Did we forget to mention Sarah Jessica Parker has previously joined forces with the brand, and shared her devotion to the label and its effective products?

The RoC hero product has garnered almost 5,000 glowing reviews, and an average of 4.5 out of 5 stars, with one shopper even claiming it’s a “miracle cream”.

This happy buyer wrote: “I bought this a month ago and within two days I could see smoother, plumper, glowing skin around my eyes!”

A different Boots customer raved: “I’m in my early 50s, and often mistaken for being in my 30s or early 40s.

“I’ve been using this for many years and my eye area is literally line-free.

“A little goes a long way, and [it’s] great around the smile lines when traveling.”

Another gushed: “My eyes have never looked so smooth and glowy. [Some] fine lines have definitely diminished.

“I will not be without this product. The entire RoC skincare line is so underrated… [I] can’t wait to try other products.”

EastEnders fans call out obvious blunder with Bernie after she’s exposed as Linda’s blackmailer ahead of The Six trial

EASTENDERS fans have called out an obvious blunder with Bernie Taylor.

The cafe worker was exposed as the person behind Linda’s blackmail nightmare in recent scenes.

Bernie vowed to take Sharon down[/caption]

In Thursday’s episode of EastEnders, Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Linda (Kellie Bright) invited Bernie over to confront her.

Dean Wick’s (Matt Di Angelo) upcoming trial is looming large and the rest of The Six are on edge.

After Bernie (Clair Norris) had spoken to Dean in prison, she terrorized Linda with guilt-tripping notes.

She is convinced the landlady knows something about her brother Keanu’s (Danny Walters) murder.

She then started to bombard her with text messages from a burner phone, as she’s also convinced she is covering for Sharon.

When in fact, it is Sharon who is covering for her best pal Linda after she killed Keanu on Christmas Day after he started to strangle Sharon.

However, her plot was discovered when she accidently dropped the second mobile in the cafe.

When Sharon and Linda wanted to address the issue, Sharon called the mystery device.

Their suspicions were confirmed when it rang out loud from Bernie’s pocket.

But fans pointed out a blunder in the writing, as they thought a hidden burner phone would never ring out loud.

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – one fan wrote: “Why would Bernie have her blackmailing phone on loud. The way she’s just stood there being caught out.”

A second chimed in: “I feel like rule one is not taking your blackmailing phone to a meeting with the people you’re blackmailing in the first place”

“She wanted to be caught,” stated a third viewer.

As another soap fan questioned: “Wait Bernie had her burner phone on loud and Sharon found out the number? I mean I’m dumb A* but even I know not to do those things.”

And a fifth added: “Bernie ain’t a very good blackmailer if she kept her phone on loud.”

Linda Carter's biggest EastEnders storylines

Linda arrived on the Square on Boxing Day in 2013, along with her husband Mick (Danny Dyer) and has been a hit with soap fans ever since.

Her first storylines revolved around the fact that she struggled to come to terms that her son Johnny is gay

In a storyline that had long-lasting repercussions, she was then raped by Mick’s brother Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo).

She fell pregnant shortly after and then was left devastated emotionally when she gave birth to a premature baby after falling down the stairs.

Things soon got worse for Linda after she discovered that her husband Mick kissed their daughter-in-law Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty), who was married to their veteran son Lee (Danny Hatchard).

One of her more memorable storylines was when she was accused of perverting the course of justice. This was after Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) is shot and she was falsely accused of attempted murder.

Over the years she has suffered from a variety of illnesses and disorders which include bulimia, alcoholism, and a secret battle with cervical cancer. After she gave birth to her youngest son Ollie (Harry Farr), she also had to deal with his autism diagnosis.

Although she and Mick seemed to be the perfect couple, the pair split up for a short time after she had an affair with Max Branning (Jake Wood). This lead to another pregnancy.

However, the pair finally got divorced after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) set her eyes on Mick. She wanted the landlord all to herself and she lured Linda rival back into alcoholism to drive a wedge between them.

After this led to Mick’s apparent death at sea, she struggled to adjust to life without her ex-husband and the true love of her life. This was just after the pair decided to have another go at their relationship.

Recently, Linda was the person who was at the very centre during ‘The Six’ storyline. She tried to save her best friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) when she was being strangled by Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters). When she killed him with a meat thermometer, the group framed her rapist Dead Wicks after he returned to the square. Since then, she has struggled to cope.

Diana used Harry & William as a PR tool to hurt Charles – I saw it first hand, says royal photographer

PRINCESS Diana used Harry and William as a PR tool to hurt the then-Prince Charles, claims a royal photographer.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, Jim Bennett, who has spent years snapping the Firm, told how he saw Diana first-hand “using her sons” during the breakdown of her marriage.

Charles, pictured here in 1994, only ‘ever used the boys once’ for publicity pics saying royal photgrapher[/caption]

He said: “My personal opinion is that she used the children, the two boys, a hell of a lot during that time.

“I know [the then-]Prince Charles only ever used the boys once to have publicity pictures, and that was at Balmoral.

“Diana had been using the boys a little bit as a tool, I shouldn’t really say that but that’s what it appeared to me.

“Maybe Charlie was doing the same, I really don’t know.”

Jim captured the world-famous snap of Di at Thorpe Park with Wills and Harry on the log flume in 1993.

He said back then, before the downfall of the royal marriage in 1996, the family were happy with photographers shooting genuine moments.

But shortly after, Diana would try “to get as much publicity against Charlie as she could”.

He added: “[Things were] never [over the top] in the early days but when things started going wrong with Charles, and she started going to the Chelsea Harbour Club when they first split up, it seemed to me that she was trying to get as much publicity against Charlie as she could.

“When we went to Chelsea Harbour Club she would always park the car at one end and walk all the way down the car park so she could be photographed.”

Recalling the moment he snapped the family at Thorpe Park, Jim told The Sun’s Royal Editor Matt Wilkinson how it unfolded.

Jim said: “I was driving to Windsor over Easter weekend just to do the usual stuff and as I was driving, I was running a bit late, I saw Diana’s car come past me with backup people.

“I phoned immediately my mate and said ‘Look I’ve just seen the car, they’re not going to be at Windsor, they’re coming away from Windsor‘.

“So we turned the cars around and followed as best we could but we lost them.

“We pulled up on the side of the road and between the two of us, made a decision.

“We said ‘Let’s go to Thorpe Park, it’s a long shot I wouldn’t think for one minute she’d be taking the kids to Thorpe Park’.

“So we drove to Thorpe Park, it was only about another three of four miles away, and as we pulled up into the car park, we saw all the royal cars parked at the entrance.

“So we bought tickets, went in and did pictures. These were the pictures of them on smaller rides, like the teacups.

“Because of the publicity Thorpe Park got from the pictures, they were absolutely sold out that weekend.”

Jim said the Managing Director of Thorpe Park at the time, had then personally invited them back the following year when he knew Diana, William and Harry would be there.

Racing to the theme park once again, Jim was in the right place at the right time and able to snap the trio of the water ride.

Love Island’s Ronnie Vint breaks silence on cheating rumours as he reveals Harriett’s brutal rejection

LOVE Island star Ronnie Vint has broken his silence on cheating rumours as he revealed girlfriend Harriett’s brutal rejection.

Ronnie, who is nicknamed Turbo Ronnie, was accused of cheating on Harriett last month – just days after leaving the villa.

Ronnie and Harriett met in the Love Island villa after a bumpy start to their romance[/caption]

We told how he’d been spotted with a stunning teacher, 21, after a night out in Milton Keynes at city hotspot Blossom Room.

Then, last week, The Sun revealed they’d secretly split before patching things up on the same day.

But, then it appeared their relationship was in trouble again as Ronnie, 28, was heard on the phone to Harriett, 24, arguing at his launch party, which was attended by the likes of Joey EssexJessy PottsCiaran Davies and Nicole Samuel.

Ronnie was audibly fuming with Harriet, who didn’t arrive until after 11:00pm with fellow islanders Matilda Draper and Uma Jammeh, with the girl group having all been to Ibiza partying.

But Ronnie has now addressed rumours of cheating and their relationship, and told The Sun he’s even thinking of making Harriett his girlfriend in the coming days.

Talking at his Eggi Boff launch, he explained: “I’ve been doing PAs, and obviously I’m going to take photos with girls and whatever, but there is nothing else, and she knows that, and obviously that’s the life we live now.

“If someone is close friends with me, and I’m talking to her, someone is going to try to take a photo, and that’s what it can look like. She obviously knows that deal, and what happened, because I went back that night and I FaceTimed her in bed, so she knew straight away that nothing happened, but then the story came out.

“Being around Liv and Brad [Dack] – I’ve seen what people message – you’ve just got to be thick-skinned because someone wants to earn a little bit of money of a story, and obviously we know what’s real, and that is that.”

Ronnie continued: “Even when the story came out, I said to Harriett, I FaceTimed you that night, so she knew straight away what happened, so it was brushed under, and other than that we’ve been so good.

“We just had a little trip to Italy together. I met her family, and she’s met mine – the parents, and everything is going so well. I’m really looking forward to our next chapter together.”

And on the topic of the next chapter, it appears Ronnie is keen to call Harriett his girlfriend.

He said: “Me and Harriett are getting on really well together – things are going so well, I just feel like when you come out [of Love Island] there is so much pressure of making something official, and I’m so close to doing it, but at the minute I don’t want to be forced into doing it for likes and reactions.

“I want to be real with what I’m doing, and she knows that, and we’re loved-up.”

“I’m looking forward to the next chapter and making her my girlfriend in the next couple of days.”

But Ronnie revealed he’s already been rejected once by his Love Island sweetheart.

He continued: “I’ve asked her already when we were in bed together and she said, ‘Why are you doing it here?’ I said, ‘I just want to be real, and do it here.’

“I don’t need a big reaction, and likes. I just want to be real with what we’re doing. I thought it was a real moment, but she said no at the time, but it’s coming because she loves me and I love her.”

Ronnie added that he and Harriett tell each other they love each other “all the time,” with the L-bomb having been officially dropped.

ParalympicsGB gold medal hope and Britain’s most decorated equestrian rider misses Paris 2024 due to suspension

SIR LEE PEARSON is absent from the Paris Paralympics as he is suspended from riding and subject to an ongoing investigation.

Britain’s most decorated para-equestrian rider – he has 17 medals, including 14 golds, from six Games – is not in the squad that travelled across the Channel.

Pearson, who last competed in March 2023, made himself unavailable for selection while a probe is being conducted by the British Equestrian Federation, the national governing body.

It is the second blow to hit the sport in Britain after Charlotte Dujardin quit Team GB in disgrace days before the start of the Paris Olympics after videos emerged of her repeatedly whipping a horse.

Horseman Pearson, 50, is Britain’s third-most successful Paralympian behind cyclist Sarah Storey and swimmer Mike Kenny and was knighted in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list.

He declined to comment when contacted but it is believed the situation is not related to animal welfare.

A British Equestrian statement said: “British Equestrian and British Dressage are aware of concerns and allegations that have arisen around an individual within the dressage community.

“In accordance with our own procedures, the matter is under active investigation and the individual is suspended from both organisations while that investigation takes place.

“No further comment will be made at this time.”

A ParalympicsGB spokesperson said: “Lee has publicly stated he did not seek to qualify for Paris 2024 for personal reasons.

“That is a matter for him and British Equestrian and in no way detracts from his past achievements or the possibility that he may seek to qualify for future Paralympic Games.”

ParalympicsGB last month named an all-female dressage team of Natasha Baker, Mari Durward-Akhurst, Sophie Wells and Georgia Wilson for this year’s Games.

The competition is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at Chateau de Versailles.

Mum, 37, collapsed unconscious days after family picnic left her with ‘excruciating pain worse than childbirth’

A FAMILY picnic nearly cost a mum her life after she collapsed unconscious days after being bitten by a horsefly.

Natasha Judge was enjoying a picnic with her 14-year-old son Riley at their local park on July 23 when she was unknowingly bitten by an insect on her bottom.

Natasha was told she could have been at risk of sepsis[/caption]

The 37-year-old was in the shower later that evening when she noticed a bite mark on her left bum cheek.

The following day, the bite had developed into a rash, which Natasha attempted to control with antihistamines.

However, a few days later the mum-of-one began experiencing excruciating pains down her leg, which she described as “worse than childbirth”.

After a course of antibiotics, the student nurse’s health took a drastic turn for the worse when she collapsed on the sofa at home while watching a film.

The single mum was bluelighted to University Hospital Crosshouse in Kilmarnock where she underwent emergency surgery to remove an infected abscess on the bite.

Natasha, who lives in Glasgow, Scotland, was told the bite had been caused by a horsefly – and is now warning others about the seemingly harmless common insect.

Natasha said: “It was an absolutely glorious day in July so me and my son took a picnic to the park.

“It wasn’t until I was in the shower later that evening that I noticed a bite on my left butt cheek. I hadn’t felt anything bite me.

“It looked red and a bit bloody but I didn’t think much of it.

“The next day I noticed a rash and put on some antibacterial cream and took some antihistamine to try and calm it down but it just didn’t work.

“A few days later the pain started. The pain came on thick and fast. I couldn’t even sit down. The rash had spread right down my thigh.

“The pain was excruciating, it was worse than childbirth. I’d never felt pain like it.”

Natasha rang the out-of-hours doctors who told her she had been bitten by a horsefly – and prescribed three doses of antibiotics.

However, after taking the medicine, Natasha began feeling very unwell while watching a movie at home with her son.

Natasha said: “My body just started to shut down. My blood sugars dropped. I was shivering.

“I was shaking uncontrollably and had a 40 degree fever. I was collapsing. The pain was unbearable.

“I went unconscious twice on the couch while we were watching a movie. My son had to ring 999.

“We weren’t sure if it was a reaction to the antibiotics but the doctor said it was due to the horsefly bite.

“I was rushed to hospital via ambulance and the doctor looked at my bite and said it’s severely infected and told me there was an abscess and I would need surgery.”

Natasha underwent an hour-long operation to drain the abscess, which contained 50ml of fluid, and remained in hospital for five days.

‘Picnic could have cost me my life’

Natasha said: “I was told I was quite lucky because the poison had started to go into my body and they were worried about me getting sepsis. My body was starting to shut down.

“It was quite a scary time. You never expect something like this to happen. I was shocked. I’ve been bitten by things before but never a horsefly.

“Living in Scotland, you’re prone to it so this was very surreal.

“The surgeon said they’d never seen anything like it. They don’t know why it got this serious. I was lucky I came in when I did.

“This picnic could’ve cost me my life. I look back and think this could’ve been so much worse.

“I’m terrified about it happening again. It’s in the back of your head all the time.”

11 of the most common but nasty bug bites

Bug bites are the scourge of British summertime.

And while a nibble from a critter is usually not a big problem, some can send you into a frenzy of itching or get pretty sore.

Everyone’s immune system responds differently to bites and stings, and some people may have more severe reactions than others – especially when it comes to stings from flying insects like bees or wasps.

Itching is common, and the area around the bite can often become tender and painful to touch.

If your symptoms persist, it’s imperative you see a doctor to check that you haven’t been infected and that you aren’t suffering from an insect-born disease.

It’s hard to know what insect decided to have you for lunch, unless you catch the culprit in the act – easier said than done when most are microscopic.

Here are 11 of the most common bites and stings to help you work out what pest bit you in the first place. You can check photos of the side effects here.

1. FLEA BITE

Flea bites are small red bumps that appear in clusters. They are small and often have little red halos around them.

They usually prefer animals but can also go for warm areas like your groin and armpits, the NHS states.

  • Symptoms: They are usually itchy and will leave red marks.
  • How to treat: Try not to scratch the area, keep it clean and use antiseptic creams.

2. TICK BITE

Ticks like to feed on your blood so it’s usually easy to find them, as quite often they will still be attached to the area they have bitten.

They will usually leave a red spot, but not all people will have this reaction.

Ticks like warm blood so they will look to feast on the warmer parts of the body like armpits, behind the knees and the groin.

  • Symptoms: If you have been bitten by a tick, then it can usually be quite itchy. The reaction you have will depend on the type of tick that decided to feast on you. Lyme disease is one signal as well as other tick-borne illnesses, including tularemia and anaplasmosis.
  • How to treat: Try not to itch the bite. If it gets uncomfortable, you can use an ice pack or apply calamine lotion or antiseptic creams to stop the itching.

3. SPIDER BITE

If you see a spider scurrying away or you have two tiny puncture wounds on your skin, then it’s most likely a spider bite.

Most spiders only bite when they are provoked and their bites will usually leave your skin red and a bit swollen.

  • Symptoms: Mild pain is to be expected but if you have been bitten by a black widow or brown recluses, then you could experience tremors and nausea. If you think you’ve been bitten by one of these spiders then you should seek help from a professional.
  • How to treat: Using an ice pack will help the swelling and if you have been bit on your leg it’s a good idea to keep it elevated.

4. FLY BITE

Fly bites are common if you spend a lot of time outside and even more so if you spend time around horses. They can be pretty painful.

  • Symptoms: They are often raised and will be a little bit itchy but more are innocuous.
