‘He’s unrecognisable!’ say stunned Emmerdale viewers as character finally returns after months off screen

EMMERDALE viewers were in for a surprise on Thursday night when a familiar face made an unexpected comeback.

Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) has returned to the village after several months away, leaving fans stunned by his dramatically different appearance.

The boy (right) has had a dramatic transformation in the time he spent off screens[/caption]

The teen, who had been traveling in Australia, came back to discover there had been upheaval in Emmerdale during his absence.

Arthur missed out on the explosive fallout between his mother Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and her estranged husband Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson).

The couple is currently going through a divorce just months after getting married, due to Jai’s controversial actions involving his biological father Amit (Anil Goutam) and his half-brother Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana).

Arthur’s last on screen appearance was back in March, around the time his close friend Heath Hope (Sebastian Dowling) tragically died in a car accident.

Upon his return to the Thomas household in Mulberry, Arthur awkwardly interrupted an intimate moment between Gabby Thomas and Vinny Dingle, who are now a couple.

And the drama didn’t stop there.

Arthur went on to catch wind of the ongoing tension between his mum and Jai.

After becoming concerned about his mum’s wellbeing when she nearly fainted in front of him, he confronted her ex husband, expressing his frustration over the stress Laurel has been under since the divorce proceedings began.

Even though his mum reassured Arthur that she is just in the process of recovering from her heart attack, he made it clear that he blames Jai for the strain on her health.

Although Arthur immediately got involved in a couple of big storylines, viewers were much more taken aback by his appearance than what he had to say to Jai.

Fans of the ITV soap flocked to social media to comment on how drastically the teen has changed from when he was last on the show.

One person wrote: “Arthur is ten years older than when he left.”

Another questioned: “Is this a new Arthur, or is it just the fringe?”

A third joked: “Arthur’s returned from his holibobs and suddenly thinks he’s a hardman. Love it.”

SHOPPERS are racing to B&M to pick up a dupe of a £3,000 designer ornament, for just £3.

B&M is one of Britain’s best loved retailers, and is constantly wowing shoppers with it’s affordable products.

Bearbrick’s retail at £3,162[/caption]

And one item which has caught the eye of bargain fans recently, is a product similar to Bearbrick ornaments, which retail at £3,162.

Sharing her find via a TikTok video,  Ellie (@fenloninteriors_) said: “B&M have launched Bearbrick and Balloon Dog [alternative] ornaments.”

Showing off the small silver bear shaped ornaments in her local B&M store, she said: “”Rumour on the street, B&M have started selling Bearbricks.

“So of course, I had to go and see for myself. And honestly, I just stepped into the home décor aisle and I found him.”

Bearbrick figures were created in 2001 by Japanese Toy Label Medicom, and have become highly sought after and exclusive items.

Reviewing the product, Ellie revealed that she thought that the £3 price tag was great, even if the products are small.

“I mean, they are only like the size of your hands, so they are tiny, but I think they’re a cute styling piece.”

Ellie then revealed that B&M is also selling a copy of Jeff Koons’ Balloon Dog sculptures.

In 2013, Koons’ Balloon Dog (orange) sold for £44,million, and is the fourth most expensive piece of artwork to sell by a living artist at auction.

Ellie added that she hopes the retailer brings the dupes out in more colours, as she is a huge fan of the products.

The video, has likely left many impressed, as it has racked up over 90,000 views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

One person said: “I’ve got the two of them!”

How to save money at B&M

Shoppers have saved hundreds of pounds a year by using B&M's scanner app.

The scanner lets you see if an item’s price is cheaper than advertised on the shop floor label.

Products that are typically discounted are seasonal items and old stock that B&M is trying to shift.

The app is free to download off the B&M Stores mobile app via Google Play or the Apple App Store.

According to one ex-B&M manager, you’ll want to visit your local branch at 10am on a Wednesday too.

Here’s how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:

  • Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an App Store or Google Play.
  • Once you’ve installed it on your device, click on the option labelled “more” on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
  • You’ll then find an option that says “barcode scanner”. Click on this and you’ll open a camera screen.
  • Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
  • If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
  • You don’t need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.

Another person said: “I’ve seen them in my local store, they’re both so cute.”

A third person said: “I’ve found another obsession, they are amazing.”

A fourth person added: “SHEIN also sell them!

“The colours are amazing.”

Fabulous will pay for your exclusive stories. Just email: fabulousdigital@the-sun.co.uk and pop EXCLUSIVE in the subject line.

Marvel’s upcoming release combines chaotic action with lore only hardcore fans know

AT Gamescom, you can hear the trailer for Marvel Rivals blasting out of the speaker with Captain America shouting “Snap out of it, Bucky!” every few minutes.

It is a bewildering layer of white noise, and the repetition of the looping trailer perfectly encapsulates how I feel about Marvel Rivals.

hulk and iron man are fighting in a video game
NetEase
Characters are well thought out but not balanced for the fast pace of the game[/caption]

Marvel Rivals is NetEase’s take on the hero shooter, with 3v3 team-based battles.

The unique selling point is that you can choose to play as one of 25 popular Marvel heroes or villains, each with their own outrageously powerful abilities.

When there are six S-tier characters on the map, all casting spells and shouting catchphrases simultaneously, it is absolute chaos.

There is some story here, but Marvel Rivals focuses on the combat, which both goes at a breakneck pace and includes screen-obscuring special abilities.

You can easily be winding up an attack only to be hit by a burst of red, and die before you even know what hit you.

PvP shooters require a lot of practice to master, and we had such a short time with the game it’s hard to tell if we would understand what is happening better if we had a bit more experience.

In this first taste though, the map feels too small, and the attack animations are too big and powerful.

There are 25 characters with around seven skills each, meaning that’s about 175 moves you have to master.

This is definitely possible, but it will have a longer teething process than games like Valorant or Apex Legends.

Each character has a unique look with distinctive silhouettes and colour schemes, meaning that they are instantly recognisable, and they all feel very different to play.

This is definitely a feat worthy of praise when there are so many characters, and there are some surprising additions that you rarely see outside of the comics.

You rarely see Jeff the Land Shark, Peni Parker or Luna Snow in the mainstream but they all make an appearance here.

It’s clear that the team has put a lot of time into the characters, who to include and how they should control.

However, in keeping abilities realistic to the comics, it means that they are too difficult to comprehend particularly with the fast pace of gameplay.

For example, team-up moves incentivise players to choose characters that are related to each other like Hela, Thor, and Loki but make things more complex when it comes to team composition.

Marvel Rivals is flashy fun, with a vast roster combining familiar and cult characters from the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, and more.

However, it’s let down by its inaccessibility, though it will likely see improvements before it is released in December.

Mum issues terrifying warning after her daughter, 5, ‘started drowning’ in bed HOURS after swimming

A MUM has warned of the terrifying dangers of ‘dry drowning’ after her daughter swallowed swimming pool water.

Annie Gallagher was at the pool with her three children when the trip turned south “in the blink of an eye” after her daughter started coughing after getting out of the pool.

Annie said that while her daughter seemed fine at first, she later complained she wasn’t feeling well and seemed tired[/caption]

The child, then just five years old, continued to play but felt unwell that evening – which triggered a gut instinct in Annie that something more sinister was at play.

Taking her to get checked in the hospital, doctors found she was suffering a ‘dry drowning’ event, having inhaled water when she jumped into the pool.

Had she not been taken to hospital that night, Annie was told the outcome would have been “catastrophic”.

Now, she has shared the shocking tale on TikTok, where it has been viewed six million times, to warn others of the dangers amid the warm weather.

“It happened in the blink of an eye – we were at the pool and she jumped in from the edge,” Annie, from Florida, US, said.

“We both got out of the water and she was coughing.

“She is and always has been a strong swimmer since she was raised in the water.

“She inhaled water as she jumped in, but she seemed okay and wanted to go back to playing, which she did.”

Annie, who works in real estate development, later took the children home from the Florida-based pool, but in the evening her daughter wasn’t feeling well and wanted to stay in bed with her.

She said: “My first reaction was to send her back to her room for a good night’s sleep because I was still up cleaning the house for the next day.

“But something in my gut said ‘Don’t do it’.

“I remembered an article I’d read on Facebook before my daughter was even born about dry drowning.

“I called friends for advice, and they tried to ease my concern, but I couldn’t shake the sinking feeling in my gut.”

It only takes a teaspoon of water to cause inhalation [aspiration] pneumonia

Annie Gallagher

When they got to their local emergency room, doctors did chest X-rays and took oxygen readings.

Annie said: “They then determined that if I hadn’t brought her in that night, the outcome would have been catastrophic.”

The little girl had suffered from what Annie called ‘dry drowning’ – which she has since corrected.

In truth, ‘dry drowning’ happens very quickly after you accidentally breathe in water.

While the water doesn’t reach your lungs in an incident of ‘dry drowning,’ the shock causes laryngospasms – or spasms of the vocal cords – making breathing impossible.

Annie’s daughter had a condition called aspiration or inhalation pneumonia.

This is an inflammation or an infection of the airways after ‘food or liquid is breathed into the airways or lungs, instead of being swallowed,’ according to Penn Medicine.

“It only takes a teaspoon of water to cause inhalation [aspiration] pneumonia, which she had,” Annie said,

“She had begun to slowly suffocate as she drowned in the fluids that were flooding her lungs,” she added.

‘Life had come back into her eyes’

Within hours, the family was transferred to a children’s hospital.

“That entire week feels like a fever dream,” the mum said.

“At one point, I passed out myself and ended up in the ER,” she recalled.

“I couldn’t believe my kid was in critical condition.”

Luckily, doctors were able to find a medication that her daughter responded to.

Annie said: “Suddenly, the life had come back in her eyes.

“She wanted to go play in the playroom, which was huge.

“Simply seeing my daughter get out of bed or her wheelchair allowed me to breathe and smile with her.”

Her kid was discharged after seven days in hospital and returned to life as normal.

But Annie did begin by insisting the family had campouts in the bedroom so she could “hear [her] kids breathing”.

She was determined to get them back in the pool quickly so no phobias developed.

Seven years on from the terrifying incident in October 2017, her daughter is 12 years old and thriving.

‘Trust your instincts’

Her mum said: “She is a happy, healthy, smart, empathetic young woman now, and I’m sure we will have other challenges – that’s life.

“But if there is one thing I know about that girl, it’s that she’s strong!”

Annie added: “I want parents to know these things happen.

“We can’t put our kids in a bubble, unfortunately, but we have to keep living.

“The best we can do is be aware of safety hazards, teach our kids, and watch their backs while they are still learning.

“More than anything, though, as a parent, trust your instincts.

“Mine saved my daughter’s life.”

What is aspiration pneumonia?

Aspiration can cause serious health concerns, such as pneumonia, as the foreign material in the lungs can affect oxygen levels and damage lung tissue.

According to the NHS, aspiration pneumonia may happen after accidentally breathing in something, such as a small piece of food.

It is important to note that there is a difference between aspiration and choking, which is when there is something stuck in the airway that is either partially or completely blocking the flow of air in and out.

Whereas, aspiration is when a foreign material in the lungs is affecting oxygen levels and damaging lung tissue.

Little ones will present with aspiration – a mild airway obstruction – by coughing and spluttering.

The foreign material, such as a nut, will then make its way down to the lungs.

However, if any of the following symptoms arise, call 999 or go to the emergency room:

  • Choking or a blocked airway
  • Noisy breathing
  • Bluish skin or nails
  • Chest pain
  • Wheezing

Symptoms of aspiration do not always present themselves immediately — they may take hours or days to develop.

See a medic if the following symptoms occur after aspiration:

  • A fever
  • Increased mucus production
  • Chronic coughing
  • Coughing up blood
  • Foul-smelling mucus

Spotify sparks huge row with Apple after blaming iPhone maker for broken iOS feature driving users mad

APPLE has blasted Spotify for a change that affects how the volume works on iPhones.

The music streaming giant sparked a fresh feud with Apple after it withdrew access to tech that lets people adjust the volume on connected devices using the iPhone‘s physical buttons.

a cell phone is displaying a screen that says jump back in .
Spotify offers up an alternative solution to the problem for now

It affects Spotify Connect, a feature for controlling sound levels on things like nearby speakers and smart TVs with the iPhone.

iOS Bluetooth or AirPlay sessions continue to work as normal – as does Android.

Writing on its support page, Spotify said Apple had “discontinued” the technology that made Spotify Connect possible.

The change is due to come into effect on September 3 but some users claim it’s already happening on their accounts.

“While we work with them on a solution, you can use the Spotify app to easily adjust the volume on your connected device,” Spotify says.

Anyone that attempts to adjust the volume with the physical buttons while connected to a device will see a notification that prompts users to an alternative solution.

Instead, people will have to open the Spotify app and use an in-app slider to turn the volume up or down.

“Making it inconvenient to use Spotify to force iPhone users to Apple Music is prime Apple anti-competitor behavior,” one frustrated user wrote.

“Wow, Apple’s decision sure is a bummer for Spotify users on iOS,” another said.

For quick access to volume, users can press one of the volume buttons on their iPhone.

A slider will then appear at the bottom of their screen.

According to The Verge, Spotify said: “We’ve made requests to Apple to introduce a similar solution to what they offer users on HomePod and Apple TV for app developers who control non-Apple media devices.

“Apple has told us that they require apps to integrate into HomePod in order to access the technology that controls volume on iPhones.”

It’s not the first time the two companies have been at lock horns with each other.

Spotify has previously taken aim at Apple over fees it charges for the app store, claiming it gives Apple’s own services like Apple Music an unfair advantage.

While this latest saga is a frustration for users, many take aim at Spotify over the issue, not Apple.

“they don’t get tired of blaming apple,” one user wrote on X.

“Sounds like a lot of finger pointing and baby cries than actual functionality,” a second person wrote.

And a third commenter added: “They will blame literally anything on Apple hahahahahahaha.”

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best...

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
  • Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen (or swipe left to right on an iPhone X or later model), then tap in the bar and type a currency (like $200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
  • Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
  • Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier

Millionaire supermarket heir ‘ploughs luxury yacht into boat killing fisherman in hit-and-run in Brit holiday hotspot’

THE heir of a German supermarket allegedly crashed his dad’s yacht into a small boat which killed one fisherman, before speeding away from the scene.

Dennis Viehof, 35, heir to the fortune, is the son of millionaire Klaus Viehof, 62, who lent him the yacht which is valued at a staggering £3.3 million.

La Luna – the 20-metre-long yacht that rammed the small finishing boat in Mallorca[/caption]

Viehof allegedly lost control of the 20-metre-long La Luna yacht on August 23 in fishing town Cala Bona, off the east coast of Majorca.

Witnesses saw the yacht going too quickly before it hit and overpowered the comparatively tiny fishing boat, carrying three.

The keen anglers were out hunting for some squid and hoping to land some at around 10pm.

But the yacht allegedly failed to stop and help the fisherman and promising volleyball player Guillem Comamala, understood to be 20, died at the scene.

Viehof is currently being investigated for manslaughter after his allegedly reckless control of the luxury yacht.

The surviving fishermen say the impact of the hit was so severe it ripped the engine from the boat, leaving it completely incapacitated.

The black yacht was reportedly given a rushed and frantic cleaning the next morning.

Glasses were discarded into the harbour basin just before cops arrived to seal off the vessel.

The Guardia Civil suspect the cleanup operation may have been an attempt to erase any traces of a wild night of partying.

But a cleaner on the sailing boat insisted she was unaware of the tragic accident and just followed Viehof’s basic instructions.

Investigators have since revealed that the yacht had apparently been recklessly speeding across the water with its powerful 1550 hp engine.

They also revealed that its crew failed to slow down or offer any assistance even after seeing the effects of the collision.

They’re also looking into whether anyone aboard the ship tried to flee the scene after and examining the crew’s claim that they were unaware of the fatal crash.

Cops reportedly found a phone during their search of the yacht and hope it can reveal vital clues related to last Friday’s incident.

Surveillance footage from the nearby yacht club is now under review to pinpoint the exact number of people aboard the vessel on August 23.

Tributes flooded in for popular volleyball player Guillem and his club Club Voleibol Portol issued a moving statement.

They said: “A very sad day for our family. We, from the Portol Volleyball Club, want to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and acquaintances of Guillem Comamala Fiol.

“As a club, we had the privilege of watching him grow up from a young age. He won us all over with his personality and his skills as a player.

“We shared spectacular moments with him, lifting trophies, winning medals, overcoming defeats, but above all, growing together and feeling proud to share unforgettable moments.

“We will always carry you with us, Guillem, always by our side, fighting like a superhero and smiling despite adversity. Thank you for everything, Guillem, you are and will always be eternal.”

Viehof was quizzed by local cops on August 24, the day after the incident as part of the manslaughter investigation.

Infobae reports that he voluntarily pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and failure to provide assistance and was released after exercising his right not to testify.

The investigation continues.

The Viehofs are one of Germany’s wealthiest families. Dennis’s dad Klaus is the son of Eugen Viehof, who sold his Allkauf retail group in 1998, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

They also report that Dennis is a pilot who has had his aviation licence since he was just 18.
