Moment BMW driver leads cops on wild high-speed chase after ‘ramming into’ police cars – before dramatic arrest

COPS have arrested a driver following a wild high-speed chase after he rammed a pair of police cars.

The mad motorist hit speeds of up to 70mph on narrow residential roads and blew through red lights as he tried to escape the long arm of the law.

Officers from Cheshire Constabulary first intervened when the blue BMW was breezing past a no entry sign.

When they attempted to pull the car over, the driver put his foot to the floor and tried to make good his escape.

Dash cam footage from the police car shows him flying through the darkened streets at speed with no regard for other road users’ safety.

The force stated that two of its cars were rammed during the pursuit.

Footage also shows the Beemer coming inches from clipping a parked car and nearly losing control as it blasted over a speed bump, getting some air in the process.

At one point, the driver ran a red light on a blind T-junction, risking a nasty smash.

The brave coppers eventually managed to cut the yob off using a stinger and make an arrest.

A 27-year-old man was detained in Greater Manchester after crossing over the regional border as he fled.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop for officers.

In addition, he was held on suspicion of drug driving and possession of cannabis.

The suspect remains in custody awaiting a decision on charges.

Chief Inspector John Forshaw of Cheshire Constabulary’s Roads and Crime Unit said: “This was a great example of teamwork from different units across the force, each of which were pivotal in securing the arrest of the individual who clearly showed no regard for the safety of members of the public.

“This pursuit crossed into two separate police force areas.

“However, thanks to our officers working together, a stinger device was successfully deployed to deflate the vehicle’s tyres which reduced the speed and risk to others, helping to enable us to bring their dangerous behaviour to an end.

“This should serve as an example that if you try and commit crime in Cheshire, we will find you, and you will be arrested for your actions.”

It comes after a learner driver saw her test thrown into chaos when she was caught in the middle of another police chase.
