Balloons fill the skies for annual Labor Day Lift Off

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Each Labor Day weekend, early birds not only catch the worm but also enjoy a stunning view of Colorado Springs’ annual balloon lift-off. This year was no different, with around 70 balloons taking to the skies on Saturday, Aug. 31, and Sunday, Sept. 1. The event will continue on Monday, Sept. 2.

The lift-off occurs each morning from around 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and guests can wander the grounds, surrounded by massive balloons inflating and launching. Plenty of live music, food vendors, beer and wine tastings, and activities for kids keep the whole family entertained.

Each evening before the lift-offs, the Balloon Glows light up the night, surrounding guests with a vibrant display of color against the dark sky and mountain silhouettes. Balloons flicker in coordinated bursts of flame, choreographed to music and the crowd’s cheers.

Sunday, Sept. 1, is the final chance to see the Balloon Glow this year, starting at 7:30 p.m. Early arrivals can explore local vendors, and stay afterward to watch a spectacular drone show.
