US-based vlogger Kevin Taylor has queried why VIP buses allegedly get into accidents more than state-owned STC Buses following a recent accident that claimed 7 lives.
The tragic accident involving a VIP bus and a fuel tanker near Obretema, close to Suhum saw 7 declared dead and 31 others sustaining injuries.
The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 21, 2024.
According to a statement from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the fatal collision took place at 4:38 a.m. when the fuel tanker, registered GE-9644-21, suffered a tyre burst, causing it to swerve into the opposite lane and collide head-on with a VIP bus, registered GR-7632-24. The crash resulted in both vehicles overturning, trapping passengers inside.
Although the accident was caused by the fuel tanker, Kevin Taylor believes it is high time VIP also checked its drivers for speeding.
He asked “how come STC is involved in Fewer accidents than VIP buses?”.

We all gonna have to admit our supposed highways are not befitting to be highways but a little caution while driving will save your life, that of others, and properties
This is not an attack on VIP Jeoun company but let’s face it, how come STC is involved in Fewer accidents than VIP buses?
The truthful answer is almost all VIP buses mostly on the Accra Kumasi Tamale road over speed and this has led to the loss of many promising lives
Families have shuttered because they lost breadwinners and destiny helpers through these avoidable accidents
It is like, anytime a VIP bus is involved in an accident, the death toll or casualties are just too much.
While we continue to speak the truth to the government to fix these intercity roads, VIP Management and their drivers must equally be responsible, the reckless driving is too much and is killing too many people.
Just yesterday, there was a gory video of a VIP Jeoun bus involved in yet another crazy accident on the Kumasi Accra road, with many death and injuries recorded.
STC runs the same service as VIP Jeoun so how come STC experiences fewer accidents on Ghanaian roads than VIP?
It is because most VIP Jeoun bus drivers are reckless, let’s be truthful to ourselves.
