Hundreds of St. Louis poll workers still unpaid after August primary

ST. LOUIS – A poll worker in the City of St. Louis tells FOX 2 she still has not gotten paid after working the Aug. 6 primary election.

She’s not alone: hundreds of poll workers have not gotten paid after working long hours that day. They’re most frustrated by what they call a “lack of communication” over the delays.

A representative with the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners confirms around 300 poll workers have not received their checks from working the primary election. It comes more than three weeks after the primary.

One of those workers tells FOX 2 she worked from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m. that day. She’s still owed $225 for her services and feels the city is giving her the run-around.

The board acknowledged the delay and says they have kept track of everyone who has and has not been paid. Those who don’t receive theirs by the end of the week will be issued new checks, according to the board.
