Join the Conversation on Public Lands: BLM Resource Advisory Council to Meet in Cedarville

If you’re interested in shaping the future of public land management, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Northern California District Resource Advisory Council is hosting an opportunity for you to get involved. The council will be holding a field tour and meeting on Wednesday and Thursday, September 25-26, in Cedarville. Both events are open to the public.

On September 25, council members will tour public land sites managed by the BLM Applegate Field Office to observe land management practices and discuss challenges. Participants must bring their own high-clearance vehicle and meals.
The following day, the council will meet at 8 a.m. at the Four Seasons Building in Cedarville. The meeting is in-person only, with public comments invited at 11 a.m. Time limits may apply.

Key topics on the agenda include a status update on the Northwest California Integrated Resource Management Plan, discussions on wild horse and burro management, and an overview of the BLM’s new public lands rule. Reports will also be presented by BLM California State Director Joseph Stout and managers from the Applegate, Arcata, Eagle Lake, and Redding field offices.

The 15-member council represents a diverse array of public land interests, including recreation, livestock grazing, timber and forest products, environmental organizations, and local government. The council’s focus is on lands managed by the Northern California District, which also includes areas in northwest Nevada.

For those passionate about public land management and looking to make their voice heard, this meeting is an ideal opportunity. More information can be obtained by contacting BLM Public Affairs Officer Jeff Fontana at 530-260-0189.
