The hugely popular car brand Volvo has given the XC90 a fresh facelift, offering a new wider grille with a modern look, plus an updated steering wheel and centre console design.

On the front of the car, the hammer-shaped lights, nicknamed ‘Thor’s Hammer’ are sharper and slimmer than before, and the front bumper has been revamped.

The Volvo XC90 has been manufactured and marketed by Volvo Cars since 2002, however, this refreshed version has a new dashboard and a larger central touchscreen running an infotainment system.

Essentially, Volvo’s latest Google-powered infotainment software provides the capabilities of a mobile phone.

A few previous features will remain such as some physical buttons, a volume dial on the dash and the classic Volvo badge on the centre of the car.

The car will only be available with hybrid power and Auto Express reckons it will be the existing model’s T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain.

It comprises a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and one electric motor, powered by a 19kWh battery.

Even better, the car has all-wheel drive, meaning all of the car’s power is sent to each wheel, maximising road traction, such as on slippery roads.

The pure electric range of the car is up to 45 miles and it has a joint power output of 449bhp.

According to Jeremy Clarkson, ex-host of Top Gear, the XC90s were designed by “someone who must’ve had children due to its practicality.”

Although the Swiss brand may have prematurely shared the snaps of the Volvo XC90, all will be officially unveiled on 4 September.
